"Let me have a taste."
With a sigh, Magdalen handed over the drink. "Go ahead, taste it!"
Morrison took a sip and then returned it to her. "Drink up!" he said before turning to join a conversation with someone else.
Magdalen was secretly surprised but didn't show it. Her eyes darted towards Estelle, and she whispered, "What's going on?"
"Just try it, and you'll see!" Estelle chuckled.
Taking a sip, Magdalen realized it was just fruit juice.
Estelle smiled. "I made it especially for you. It suits you."
Magdalen couldn't help but laugh in frustration. "I'm not even pregnant yet. You guys don't have to be so overprotective!"
"Morrison wouldn't let you drink alcohol either. I saved you, so just enjoy your juice. I'll join you!" Estelle poured herself a glass. "Cheers!"
Unable to drink alcohol, Magdalen convinced everyone to join her in drinking juice. "Marina, you shouldn't drink either. Having Mr. Foster, the big bad wolf, around tonight makes it too risky!"
Marina lifted her chin defiantly. "He wouldn't dare!"
Magdalen admired her. "I can't believe you're not into Mr. Foster. He's such a catch!"
Marina replied, "Who knows? To me, looking at him is no different than looking at another woman."
Susanna, who had been quiet, glanced at Marina.
Trying not to burst into laughter, Magdalen looked around and noticed Carson was missing. "I wish Mr. Foster could hear that. It would take him down a peg."
Estelle asked, "Do you want to humble Mr. Foster or just enjoy the drama?"
Emily chimed in, jokingly, "She's crafty, with a mind full of tricks. Marina, don't let her lead the conversation!"
Magdalen retorted, "I'm trying to help Marina tame Mr. Foster. You two ganging up on me? Fine, I'll go play with Goddess Amiee."
Susanna's smile faded slightly, having assumed that Charlie's girlfriend would come from a prestigious or scholarly family, not from humble beginnings.
She glanced at Kya in Charlie's arms and asked, "Is that your child?"
"Yes, my daughter!" said Emily.
Susanna's smile turned sardonic. "Motherhood really elevates your status, doesn't it?"
Realizing Emily had approached her earlier possibly to gain entry into this circle, Susanna felt more convinced of her suspicions.
Emily, sensing the mockery in her tone, chose not to engage further.
Susanna shifted slightly away from Emily.
Amiee, who was close by and overheard everything, told Emily dismissively, "You shouldn't bother with her."
Emily sighed. "I didn't expect this reaction."
