Crystal took a gulp of ice water, feeling the heat in her chest subside a bit. With her eyes closed, she shook her head, "We hardly get to see each other. I don’t want to go home yet. Let’s hang out a bit more!"
Sophia laughed, "Look at you, still up for more fun!"
Crystal flashed a wide smile and held up four fingers, "My record? Three days and nights without sleep!"
Sophia pushed down one of her fingers, "Wasn’t that during your heartbreak phase? Let's not dredge up those miserable times!"
Crystal collapsed into her arms, laughing uncontrollably.
Suddenly, someone pushed the door open. Miranda sprang to her feet and cooed as she approached the newcomer, "Why are you just getting here now?"
The man, dressed in a suit and looking quite handsome despite the smell of alcohol, wrapped his arm around Miranda’s waist with a smile, "Ran into some old friends and ended up having a couple of drinks."
Miranda, snuggling up to the man, introduced him to everyone, "This is my boyfriend, also the manager here. Everyone calls him Darcy."
Everyone got up to say hello.
Crystal, still leaning on Sophia, didn’t get up, seeing she was feeling unwell.
Miranda glanced at Sophia, her face briefly showing displeasure.
Darcy made his rounds, offering toasts to everyone. Zoey, Romeo, and the others had their drinks, but when it came to Crystal and Sophia, Crystal couldn’t even stand up straight from the couch.
"To the two beautiful ladies, hope you come hang out more often!" Darcy said with a worldly smile that carried a hint of sleaze, his eyes scanning over Sophia and the drunken Crystal.
Sophia disliked his greasy gaze and replied coolly, "Sorry, my friend’s had too much to drink. We appreciate the sentiment!"
Darcy remained silent, but Miranda scoffed, "What, can’t give us some face?"
Zoey tried to defuse the situation, "Miranda, can’t you see Crystal's drunk?"
"Yes, that one! It’s worth a fortune!" Miranda exclaimed anxiously.
Hilary also chimed in, pretending to be concerned, "We better start looking!"
Miranda added, "I definitely had it when I came in. It must be in the lounge."
Sophia glanced back without a word and continued to help Crystal out.
Just as they reached the door, Miranda shouted, "Nobody leaves this room until my necklace is found!"
Crystal turned around, furious, "For crying out loud, Miranda, are you sick in the head or was it a congenital brain defect that’s only showing up now?"
"What did you say?" Miranda stormed over, fuming.
