Sophie’s eyes lit up with a flash of realization as she stepped forward. “I just remembered where your necklace might be, Miranda!”
Seizing the opportunity, Miranda asked with feigned seriousness, “Where is it? Sophie, why didn’t you mention this earlier? Look at all the misunderstanding this has caused!”
Sophie gave her a cold look. “I just remembered. Didn’t you and Romeo spend some time in the storage room? Maybe it’s there. You haven’t checked, have you?”
Miranda’s face went pale instantly.
Sophie turned to Brandon, “Is there a camera in the storage room? We could easily find out.”
“No, you can’t check!” Miranda shouted in panic.
“Why not? You were in there for quite some time. It could’ve easily fallen off,” Sophie said with a smirk.
“What are you talking about? We were only there for a few minutes!” Romeo blurted out.
Brandon’s expression darkened as he turned to Miranda with suspicion. “What exactly were you two doing in there?”
Miranda shook her head frantically, “Nothing!”
Fitch called someone over. “Check the surveillance for that room!”
There were no cameras in the main room, but the storage area had hidden cameras installed to prevent any incidents from going unaccounted for.
Soon enough, they pulled up the surveillance footage on a computer. The grainy images and sounds made everyone’s face turn a shade paler.
Sophie blushed deeply, turning her head away.
Jason took her hand and pulled her close, whispering, “How did you know?”
Burying her face in his chest, Sophie mumbled, “I overheard it in the bathroom.”
“You two are the same, egging me on to defend you while you betray me behind my back!”
Hilary received a couple of slaps from Brandon, and Miranda was kicked to the ground, her face twisted in pain.
Finally, when the brawl seemed to have cooled down, the police stepped in and took everyone involved away.
This incident wasn’t just about harassment or infringing on personal liberties anymore; it had escalated to physical violence.
Fitch also had the hallway surveillance checked, and it was clear that Brandon had orchestrated the search on the female guests as an excuse for harassment.
Facing Jason, Fitch didn’t dare to cover up the truth. “Though this was Brandon’s doing, as the owner here, I bear responsibility too. I’ll cooperate fully with whatever penalty is due.”
The officer nodded. “We’ll take them in for questioning and get back to you.”
Fitch agreed, “Alright, that’s fine.”
