Sophia clung to his shoulders, biting her lip hard.
Jason whispered in her ear, "Do you believe it now? You were meant to be mine all along!"
It was destiny - no matter the detours, she would wholly belong to him!
Sophia closed her eyes, silently consenting, feeling utterly willing in her heart.
The wind picked up, clouds obscuring the sliver of moonlight, darkening the room further. Sophia had never liked the complete darkness so much, hiding all her embarrassment and shyness.
As Sophia was drifting off to sleep, she heard the sound of rain outside and felt a bit of joy, thankful that it was Saturday tomorrow and she wouldn't have to brave the rain to get to work.
But that was just a fleeting thought, as she quickly lost the energy to speak and soon fell into a hazy unconsciousness.
Jason emerged from the bathroom, kissed the already sleeping Sophia, and walked out to the balcony to watch the rain. Suddenly, he had a strong craving for a cigarette.
The spring rain was gentle, silently nourishing everything.
His heart, too, seemed to be touched by the rain, quenching the dryness, flowing through him and filling him with an immense satisfaction.
He had fallen for her unknowingly, just like her, wanting to be around her all the time, trying to catch her attention with words, getting jealous and angry when those boys gave her flowers.
Back then, he would only sulk by himself, facing her puzzled expression and feeling even more irritated.
That summer, when he was nineteen, he went to the Jones family to find her and accidentally saw her on the balcony after a shower, her hair down and blowing in the wind.
Her long hair fluttered softly in the breeze, cascading over her face, shoulders, and developing chest.
The afternoon sunlight streamed in, outlining her delicate, youthful body in an enticing light, and he was struck.
He stood transfixed, unable to look away for a long time.
That night, he had a dream that embarrassed him greatly, and in the dark dawn that followed, he realized his true feelings.
The girl had made her way into his heart, and he no longer saw her as the girl next door but as someone he had fallen for.
