As the evening shades deepened, Jason finally grabbed a jacket for Sophia, wrapping it around her before they both headed home together.
They first stopped by Sophia's apartment to pack up her things and take them over to Jason's place.
As they descended the stairs, a sleek black car was parked under the shadow of a tree across the street. Jason's gaze swiftly passed over it, and with a subtle shift in stance, he took the suitcase in one hand and drew Sophia closer with the other, leaving at a leisurely pace.
Nestled against Jason amidst the rain, Sophia hadn't noticed the car.
On their way back, waiting for the green light at an intersection, the windshield wipers tirelessly swung back and forth. Sophia, mesmerized by the neon lights flickering in the rain, turned to Jason, "Did my mom really agree to us moving in together?"
"Why don't you give her a call and check?" Jason suggested, looking back at her.
Sophia immediately shook her head, preferring not to walk into what could very well be a trap.
After having dinner at a restaurant downstairs, they went back to his place. Jason helped her unpack, hanging clothes in a closet that happened to be empty just for her.
Everything else was filled, except for this one closet that had never been used.
Sophia, munching on a plum, watched Jason hang clothes and couldn't help but wonder, "Were you planning this all along?"
"Planning what?" Jason asked, turning to her.
She had asked him before why he never used that closet, and he had said it would be used eventually. It seemed like everything was prepared, just waiting for her to move in.
"You tricked me into moving here!" Sophia huffed.
Jason gave her a look, "Were you tricked into moving here?"
Caught mid-chew on her plum, Sophia found herself speechless.
After finishing with the clothes, Jason took Sophia to the study, placing her books on the shelves, "Use my desk while I'm away. I'll set up a new one for you when I get back."
"Can I use your computer?" Sophia asked.
Sophia hurriedly hugged him, whispering, "No need to learn, you...you're pretty good!"
"Am I?" Jason's voice softened.
Sophia blushed furiously, nodding vigorously.
She had intended to tease him, but ended up being the one teased.
"How so?" His voice grew even more husky and magnetic, his lips brushing her cheek, wandering.
Sophia clenched her teeth, trying to suppress her shivers.
Jason gently nibbled her earlobe, "While I'm away, you're not to see Robin!"
Leaning weakly against his shoulder, Sophia whispered back, "What if I run into him by chance?"
