Yolanda frowned, "Aren't you the head designer? If you're churning out designs this tacky, I can't imagine anyone else here doing a better job!"
Sophia took a deep breath inwardly, striving to maintain her composure and calm demeanor. "If you're doubting the capabilities of our entire studio, perhaps you'd be better off finding another jewelry design studio to work with."
Yolanda immediately bristled, "What kind of attitude is that? I'm paying top dollar for your services, and this is how you treat me?"
Sophia couldn't help but smile wryly, wanting to remind her that no contract had been signed and no money had exchanged hands yet. But she held her tongue, still keeping it polite, "What would you like me to do then?"
Yolanda's thick, false eyelashes fluttered as she seemed to reluctantly say, "Well, I've come to you guys, I don't have the time to start looking elsewhere. Just go ahead and design it for me. I've thought it over, maybe that diamond wasn't right for me. I'll pick another."
"Sure thing!" Sophia said.
Eventually, Yolanda settled on a three-carat diamond, giving a sheepish smile, "My hands are quite slender, after all. Maybe this will look better on me."
Sophia nodded, "As long as it's what you like, it'll suit you!"
Yolanda's mood seemed to improve, "Then make sure you design this one well, it has to match my vibe."
Sophia smiled, nodding, "Of course."
"I'll treat you to dinner. This diner is great, I come here often!" Yolanda said.
Sophia stood up, "Thanks, Ms. Yolanda, but I'll have to pass. I need to get back early."
She had a video call with Mr. Gilder waiting!
Yolanda frowned, "What, you think you're too good for me? Can't even accept a meal?"
Sophia had rarely heard this phrase in real life, and it almost made her laugh, but she managed to hold it back, "Then, how about I invite you, Ms. Yolanda?"
"Let's just go Dutch!" Yolanda said.
"Going well!" Jason's voice lowered, "I just miss you a lot!"
His deep voice made Sophia's heart skip a beat, stirring feelings she tried to keep innocent. Her cheeks slowly flushed, "I'll video call you when I get back."
"Mhm," he responded softly.
"I've got to go!"
"Don't drink, and be careful on your way back."
"Got it!"
Sophia hung up with a smile and headed back to the private room. Through the slightly ajar door, she could hear Yolanda's annoyed voice, "Changing the ring, Connor will definitely be pleased now!"
Sophia didn't immediately push the door open. Instead, she turned and headed for the restroom.
