Chapter 541
Elliott dared not leave and called his supervisor again to explain and plead.
The supervisor said, “Do you still want this job? Think about it!”
Then he hung up the phone.
Elliott looked at the phone, feeling both angry and anxious. He didn’t dare to vent his anger at Crystal and just felt restless.
After strolling for a while, Crystal got tired and they found a café to sit down. Crystal said, “My mom said, you guys just bought a house and probably do not have much money at this moment. Give us 300,000, that’ll do!”
Crystal was pregnant, and although the house wasn’t fully renovated yet, they couldn’t delay any more. The Sullivans wanted to get the wedding done first.
Elliott was stunned, “300,000? If we give your family 300,000, we won’t have money for the renovation!”
Crystal frowned, “That’s the money I got back. It has nothing to do with your family. You go ask your mom for the 300,000!” Elliott was very anxious, “Our old house has already been sold. Where can my mom get the money?”
“I don’t care. Anyway, my money can’t be used. You guys figure it out!” Crystal said with a cold face. “Besides, my family has a lot of relatives. For those who come to J City to attend the wedding, the round–trip airfare and hotel costs are all on your family!”
Elliott pleaded, “That’s reasonable. We can cover that, but 300,000 is too much.”
“Elliott!” Crystal slammed the table. “Do you think you can bully me just because I’m pregnant and don’t want to give me money?” “No!” Elliott quickly explained. “You know, when we bought the house, my mom put out all her money, almost leaving nothing for Emily. Where can she get that much money?”
Crystal laughed, “Your uncle’s family is rich, right? Let your mom go borrow it!”
“That’s your family’s problem!” Crystal turned her head away, not caring at all.
Emily was a bit nervous and asked, “Is it about my brother?”
“Yeah, we’ll talk when I see you.”
Charlie’s tone was gentle as he hung up the phone.
Emily was a little worried, packed up her things and went downstairs, waiting outside the building. In less than ten minutes, Charlie arrived.
It was already dark outside, and the black Rolls–Royce stopped in front of her. Charlie sat in the driver’s seat and smiled, “Get in!” Emily opened the car door, sat in the passenger seat, and immediately asked, “Has the result come out?”
“Yes!” Charlie handed Emily a file bag, “Take a look yourself!”
