Hearing him say this, Evelyn finally felt relieved, "That's good, I'm really afraid I would mess things up."
"Don't be too nervous. Lucas may be sensible but he's still a child. He won't be overly sensitive; you can rest assured."
"I want to find a time to meet with Bert. Is that okay?" Knowing that this man had a relatively intimate relationship with her in the past, Evelyn unconsciously softened her voice when she asked this question.
Huston didn't really want to agree. After all, no one would like their woman to meet with a past rival. But he knew it was inevitable, and he didn't want her to feel uncertain because she hadn't seen Bert. So, begrudgingly, he agreed, but he had a small condition:
"You can meet him, but I want to go too."
Seeing Huston's childish appearance as if he was a child who couldn't get candy, Evelyn couldn't help but chuckle, "I'm not going to do anything, so why are you always so worried?"
From the beginning till now, she was constantly implying things about Bert.
"Who asked you to be so close to Bert before? I have a shadow in my heart." When he said this, he didn't feel embarrassed at all, but rather justified.
Evelyn knew that he was making a big fuss out of a small issue. A man in his thirties, mature and steady in front of outsiders, was like a complete child in front of her. But she didn't find this contrast annoying, in fact, she liked it very much.
This side of him, no one else could see, only she could.
Evelyn raised the corners of her mouth helplessly and sweetly, "Okay, you can follow. Is that fine?"
Actually, she had intended to let him accompany her from the start. After all, for her now, Mr. Harper was already a stranger. She was really afraid that she wouldn't be able to handle it on her own, not knowing how to start talking about the changes that had taken place in recent months.
"I'm back in the country, I want to meet with you."
"Okay, you decide the place, I'll come right now." Bert agreed without hesitation, completely disregarding the conference and contract signing coming up, and was already standing up from his seat the moment the words left his mouth, ignoring his assistant and his secretary trying to stop him, he grabbed his car keys and headed for the elevator.
To him, all business and contracts are just numbers, no matter how much value they could bring him, it doesn't matter. At this moment, he just wants to see this woman who has disappeared for several months and whom he has been unable to let go of.
"38 Sapphire Road, Twilight Coffee. I'll be waiting for you there," she said lightly. She glanced at the person next to her out of the corner of her eye and added, "And Huston."
Bert's hand, which was pressing the elevator button, paused. He narrowed his eyes and said, "Okay."
