The heat rising from the thermos floated into Bert's eyes. He closed his eyes tightly and tasted bitterness in his mouth.
He sat silently for a moment, setting down his utensils and wiping the corners of his mouth with a tissue. He stood up and walked back to the bedside, looking down at the increasingly pale face, feeling a sharp pain in his eyes.
"When are you going to wake up?" It seemed that he hadn't spoken to her for a long time, and his voice was hoarse. "I'm waiting for you to wake up and punish me. Why are you retreating?"
As his words fell, there was silence all around the room, and the girl on the bed kept her eyes tightly shut. This was destined to be a monologue of his own, just him talking to himself.
However, he was enjoying this kind of one-sided show. Once he spoke, he couldn't stop talking.
"Aren't you the one who liked me? Weren't you so brave and forthright in confessing your feelings to me? Now why are you lying there motionless? Where is your courage? Where is your determination?"
"When you fearlessly handed yourself over to Owen, claiming it was for my sake, did you ever consider how I felt? How presumptuous can you be? Are you happy now, seeing me like this?"
"Alivia, I hate women who can't keep their word, so get up and fulfill what you said, okay?"
At this point, Bert suddenly chuckled, his eyes turning red, and his expression became very lost, appearing somewhat eerie. "Actually, I have so much to say to you, but I realized it too late. I'm afraid I won't have a chance to tell you in person anymore..."
His powerful voice gradually softened until it became inaudible, his words becoming disjointed and illogical, just murmuring these things based on his intuition.
There were so many things he wanted to say and do. She lived a difficult life, shouldering the burden of her family from a young age. He was wealthy and could give her the best life she could ever imagine, providing her with everything she desired if she asked.
