She was still sick, so he naturally wouldn't go too far. However, her heart still skipped a beat when he leaned over to kiss her. She looked at the handsome face in front of her, and the corners of her mouth curled up. "I've lost my memory for so long. It must have been hard for you to take care of me, right?"
"Yes." Instead of refuting, he agreed. "So, you have to compensate me when you recover."
She couldn't help laughing. She wanted to say something but didn't know what to say. "You're really..."
"Really what?"
She smiled and said, "I'm just being polite."
Huston caressed her little face under his palm gently, deliberately avoiding her wound. "I've never felt tired taking care of you. I am just afraid that you would forget me."
He didn't care about anything. For him, Evelyn was already a part of his life. He didn't care how much effort he had put in to take care of her. What he was most afraid of was being forgotten by her.
Looking at her empty eyes, he was at his wit's end. This feeling made him scared and tired.
"I'm fine." She was moved, and her eyes were red. "Fortunately, I regained my memory."
He didn't want to see her cry, so he deliberately teased her. "There is nothing to be afraid of if you forget everything."
"But my heart was so empty." Evelyn curled her lips and tried her best to hold back the sadness in her heart. "No matter how hard I thought, I couldn't make up for it. Sometimes, I felt heartbroken, but I couldn't find the reason."
Huston's heart ached. Of course, he knew how she felt. Every time he entered the ward and saw her lonely figure, he knew that she must have been suffering inside.
"I know, I know." The man stroked the back of her cold hand with his thumb and comforted her. "It's all in the past. When you recover, we'll hold a wedding immediately."
Wedding?!
