Bert had briefly instructed his assistant over the phone before hanging up. He looked at the girl, clearly lost in her thoughts, easily deciphered what she was thinking, and proactively started to explain, "I will be living domestically for the next phase, so I've prepared a house."
Alivia asked straightforwardly, "Don't you always stay in hotels?"
When they had just met, she hadn't known much about this man. She had wondered why he was always staying in hotels and never at home.
Gradually, she came to understand that the hotel was home for him. He felt more comfortable and safer there.
However, it was surprising to Alivia that a man who always stuck to this lifestyle suddenly mentioned buying property.
"Hotels are not as convenient as homes," Bert looked deeply into her moist eyes, a sentence hovering on his lips for a long time that he ultimately could not utter.
She was currently avoiding him. Saying too much and making her feel pressured wouldn't be good. Never mind.
He lowered his head slightly, closed the notebook in his hands, and saw that it was already half past ten. He pushed down the chair to one side, "It's getting late. You should rest."
Alivia nodded, indeed feeling a bit tired. She got up and walked into the bathroom, turned on the tap. The sound of water echoed continuously. She looked at the somewhat pale face reflected in the mirror, dressed in a patient's gown, and fell into a daze.
During this meeting with Bert, his emotions had calmed down a lot compared to before. He no longer had that tense and aggressive aura and seemed very natural and peaceful. However, seeing such a peaceful him made her feel flustered.
Why?
Alivia usually did not eavesdrop on other people's phone calls, but he was just too close. It was hard not to hear.
