She smiled and nodded. "Don't think too much about it. It's getting late. Go back and rest."
Sadie got up and left the study.
Looking at the old woman's back disappearing at the door, she turned her head helplessly and looked at the man who had not said a word from beginning to end. "Why didn't you say a word just now?"
"I've heard you say it very well. Why should I interfere in a woman's affairs?" Huston's face was expressionless as he continued to deal with the work at hand.
She couldn't help glancing at him. "Don't you have anything to say?"
"Me?" He stopped writing and looked at her with a faint smile. "What are you trying to say?"
"Sadie has worked for us for so many years. She is upright and kind, and her work is reassuring. Now she wants to resign because she is afraid that it will be inconvenient for us. Don't you feel moved?" She looked at Huston and did not say anything.
"Or are you men all like this?"
"What is it?"
"You don't take it to heart."
Huston was genuinely amused by her words. "Are you trying to say that I'm heartless?"
"... I didn't mean that."
The man stood up from his chair, walked up to her, and asked in a low voice, "Have you finished your work?"
She smelled the refreshing scent of his body after the shower. After getting along with him for a long time, she could tell what he was thinking with a glance. She swallowed and said, "It's almost time."
Sure enough, in the next second, she was lifted up by the force, and a strong arm supported her butt. She weighed more than 100 pounds, but she was as light as a feather in front of Huston.
