Chapter 19 It Was An Accident
Grace was so shocked that she struggled to find the right words. On one hand, it was because Evelyn was involved with another man. On the other hand, it was because that man happened to
be Huston.
After contemplating for a moment, Grace asked hesitantly, “Do you realize that this isn’t a serious relationship?”
“I know.” Evelyn pursed her lips slightly, feeling embarrassed. “I’m fully aware of it.”
Both she and Huston were simply using each other for their own
purposes.
Grace took a deep breath and lowered her voice even further. “Did you hook up?”
As the topic shifted to such intimate matters in a public setting, Evelyn’s ears gradually turned red.
Without her needing to say anything, Grace understood that they had crossed that line, and it was too late to turn back.
Grace was rendered speechless, unsure of what to say.
Afraid that Grace would look down on her, Evelyn hurriedly explained, “I couldn’t help it. It was an accident that we even
met…”
“Evelyn, Huston isn’t an ordinary man. It’s not as simple as
It wasn’t that Evelyn wasn’t great. Evelyn was wonderful in her own right. But the innocent Evelyn lived in a different world compared to the sophisticated Huston.
Grace worried that Evelyn would end up with nothing and bear the brunt of the consequences.
Observing Evelyn’s bewildered expression, Grace let out a sigh, “Can you still back out? If you can, I will support you just like he does. You don’t have to worry about anything.”
Evelyn was stunned, her mind in disarray. “I don’t know. Why don’t I talk to him?”
Grace waved her hands. “No, maybe you shouldn’t. Once a man like Huston has made up his mind, it’s hard to change it. Talking to him now won’t do you any good.”
Evelyn looked frustrated. Grace couldn’t bear to hurt her further. “Alright, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Huston is single, and you can consider yourself single as well. Maybe things can get onto the right track! You can pretend you’re really dating him. If he mistreats you, I’ll be the first to step in and kick his ass for you.”
Evelyn forced a smile, but her heart remained in turmoil.
Pretending she’s really dating him? If only it were that simple.
