Chapter 3 Divorce Agreement
When Evelyn came out of the club, her mind was spinning.
She didn’t sleep with a club host, but with another customer?!
It didn’t matter. She slept with somebody either way.
But why did she feel so strange? She wondered if Jerry felt the same way, when he cheated on her for the first time.
Her phone suddenly rang inside her purse. It was Jerry.
“How dare you call me?!”
“You were out all night! Where the hell did you go?!” Jerry’s hostile voice rang in her ear.
She smiled bitterly. “What’s it to you? Have you had enough of being with Maura?”
“Don’t talk to me like that. You can go anywhere you want. I’m calling to tell you that Mom will be home today. You’d better come back before noon!”
Jerry didn’t feel guilty at all. He treated her as a tool for dealing with outsiders as before.
But she refused to be his tool any longer..
“Then you should go and find Maura, not me.”
“You…”
Before he could finish, she hung up. Once she was so in love with him that she would always ask him to hang up first. Now all she felt was disgust.
She went to the largest shopping mall in the city and bought the most beautiful clothes of the season.
Her life might be a mess, but she can’t let others see her weakness.
After coming out of the mall, she took a taxi back to Hill Villa. She was not here to accompany Jerry’s mother but to have a showdown.
The moment she stepped into the gate, she couldn’t help but tear up. There were countless memories of them. But at this time, it was ridiculous.
The red high heels at the entrance were gone, and Maura had left.
Jerry watched as Evelyn walked in. Seeing her in her new clothes, he stood up from the sofa. His gentle and handsome face was twisted with anger. “Where were you?”
She let him misunderstand and felt the pleasure of revenge. “I’m not going to pretend that nothing happened. I’m here to tell your mother the truth.”
Evelyn had always been weak in front of him. He was stunned at her toughness now.
“What do you mean?”
Evelyn sat on the sofa opposite him and suppressed the bitterness in her chest. “I’m divorcing you. Since you’re with Maura, I’ll fulfill your wish.”
After a night, Jerry thought that she would change her expect this.
He did по
But he smiled contemptuously. “Where will you go after leaving me? You have nothing. How would you live? I bet you even bought
this dress with my card.”
She clenched her hands tight in her lap. “You asked me to be a housewife! How can you use this to mock me now?”
Suddenly, the door of the villa opened.
An older, refined woman came in, wearing a suit of loose exquisite satin clothes and a set of jade jewelry on her neck and hands.
It was Jerry’s mother, Nora Levis.
Jerry paused. “Mom, you’re here already?”
Out of courtesy, Evelyn stood up and called out, “Mom.”
Nora took off her shoes and placed a bag of medicine on the table. “Dr. Woods prepared some new medicine for you today, Evelyn.”
Evelyn looked at the medicine and said, “You don’t have to bring me medicine anymore.”
Nora was in a hurry to have a grandson and wished that they could have a child as soon as they got married. Now it had been a year and Evelyn was not pregnant yet. Nora was anxious.
“What are you talking about? I went all the way to get the medicine for you, but you don’t appreciate it. If it weren’t for your useless womb, I wouldn’t have had to put in so much effort!”
“It’s not my fault.” Evelyn couldn’t stand it anymore. “Jerry has never touched me.”
At this point, she didn’t care about the consequences. She was tired of hiding it for so long.
“What… what do you mean?” Nora looked at her son. “Jerry, is that true?”
Jerry did not expect Evelyn to say it out loud. After all, Nora was his mother. He sighed, and he sat down on the sofa. “Yes…”
“You…” Nora was stunned.
“I have no feelings for her. What do you think I can do, Mom?” Jerry said angrily, “If she did it well, would I hate her so much?”
