Chapter 309 Leave Me Alone
Mia felt as if a dagger had been stabbed into her heart. It hurt so much that she was about to lose her balance. Huston was
the man she loved so cautiously, so why did he beg for Evelyn’s forgiveness with such a lowly demeanor?
Mia glared at Evelyn with a fierce expression. As she observed. Huston’s attitude, she even feared being distanced from him because of Evelyn.
Thinking about being unable to stay by Huston’s side in the future, Mia felt a chill in her heart. Seeing that the two of them were at an impasse, she took the initiative to approach, concealing the hatred in her eyes. “Ms. Shelton, I apologize if I have caused any misunderstandings. Huston and I truly have only a familial relationship. My parents once supported him but left this world because of him. I am currently suffering from a rare illness and can only burden him. I hope you can understand and consider it as pity for me.
Mia’s words highlighted their relationship and mentioned her parents. Despite harboring immense resentment, Evelyn couldn’t find any faults in her words. She simply didn’t want to see Huston having this kind of relationship with Mia, but now it seemed unavoidable.
At the thought of this, Evelyn felt mentally exhausted. Why was she the one who had to make the choice?
Huston still wanted to say something, but he was interrupted by Evelyn. “Don’t say anything more. Leave me alone.”
Too many things had happened tonight. All of her strength seemed to have been exhausted. Her mind was in a mess, and there were many things that she needed to sort out slowly.
Huston grabbed her wrist and felt the resistance from her palm. He tightened his grip and said, “I’ll send you back.”
“I want to be alone.”
“I’ll give you a ride,” Huston repeated in a tone that brooked no refusal. He was worried that something unexpected would happen to her in her current situation, and he was even more afraid that she would disappear again the moment he turned around.
Mia knew she couldn’t keep Huston here, so she didn’t force him. She even took the initiative to open the door for Evelyn and didn’t show any reluctance. “Take care.”
Evelyn didn’t even raise her eyes. Huston simply responded and started the car to leave.
Standing at the deserted entrance of the villa, watching the taillights of the car disappear, the gentleness on Mia’s face transformed into jealousy and resentment. Huston loved that woman more than she had imagined. She would never allow any woman to usurp the emotions that belonged to her. She was
determined to reclaim his heart!
On the way back, the atmosphere inside the car was like a standstill. The streetlights passing by outside cast fleeting shadows on their faces, reflecting the fluctuating emotions they were experiencing.
Evelyn closed her eyes and looked exhausted. Huston knew that she was silently resisting. She didn’t want to talk to him or even
look at him.
He clenched his hand tightly on the steering wheel, his jaw tense. There seemed to be a fragile thread connecting the two of them, ready to snap at the slightest exertion from either side.
It was almost midnight when the car returned to the Royal Villa. With a beep, the car stopped in the garage smoothly. At the same time, Evelyn reached out for the doorknob.
Huston pressed the central lock, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.
“I want to get out of the car.” After half a minute, Evelyn spoke
first.
Huston’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he struggled to direct his gaze towards Evelyn. There was a hint of bitterness on his tongue, and with all his strength, he managed to call out her name, “Evelyn…”
