Chapter 317 Evelyn, I’m Sorry
Evelyn’s heart was beating very fast. She didn’t turn around
and stood in a deadlock with him awkwardly.
Sensing the wildly beating pulse on her wrist, Huston stared at her back with burning eyes. “I know you wiped my body!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Evelyn bit her lips hard. Her
face was hot and swollen, and she felt embarrassed as if she
had done something bad. She asked him shyly, “Were you
awake this whole time?”
“No.” Huston’s heart softened. “You made some big movements and woke me up.”
Evelyn was too embarrassed to speak. She wished she could
find a hole to hide in.
The atmosphere became somewhat delicate, and just as
Evelyn felt at a loss, a choked voice came from Huston behind
her, “Evelyn, I’m sorry.”
When Evelyn heard these words, the tears she had been
holding back fell. She looked down at the ground, and her tears fell, leaving a puddle of water stains.
She sniffed, unable to contain her anger as she thought about how he was tormenting his own body. “You know you were
sorry? Didn’t you make yourself look like this just to make me appear as the one at fault?”
“No.” Huston tightened his grip on her hand, and all the words
at the tip of his tongue condensed into these words, “I’m
sorry.”
His strength made Evelyn worry, afraid the needle might burst
out of his flesh.
Wiping away her tears with the other hand, Evelyn took a deep breath and turned to face the man behind her. She forced a bitter smile and asked, “What do you want me to say? That it’s okay? Or that I forgive you?”
Huston furrowed his brows and stared at her, seemingly taken aback by her words. Suddenly, he coughed intensely,
his breath hitching and his face turning slightly red. Without
waiting for the coughing to subside, he eagerly said, “You
don’t have to forgive me. As long as you don’t leave me, that’s
all I ask.”
What he was most afraid of was not her reproach or complaints but losing her and not being able to see her.
Evelyn’s heart felt like it had been struck hard, momentarily pausing before rapidly beating again. She looked at the man.
hidden behind his strength for the first time.
So, he was afraid too. Afraid of her leaving, afraid of losing her. It turned out that she wasn’t the only one suffering like
this.
Evelyn suddenly recalled what Kevin had said in the office.
