Chapter 322 Conservative Treatment
Evelyn didn’t expect it to be Marcellus.
“Evelyn!” Without waiting for Evelyn to speak, Marcellus leaned over, his beautiful eyes filled with pity. “Is Huston okay? It has been several days, and nobody told me he was hospitalized. I only found out today when Kevin mentioned it
to me…”
Evelyn was stunned by his series of words. After a pause of half a minute, she realized that he was explaining to her.
She knew that they had drunk together that night. She had been wondering why Marcellus hadn’t come. It turned out that no one had told him. He was probably afraid that she
would blame him in her heart.
Evelyn interrupted him and welcomed him into the house.
“He’s fine. Please come in.”
“Evelyn, you are so nice,” Marcellus said gratefully.
Huston could hear Marcellus’s exaggerated tone from a
distance. When he saw him enter, he looked at his handsome
face and said meaningfully, “So, you’re here.”
Marcellus was startled, “Huston, are you okay? After hearing it from Kevin, I was so worried on the way here. If something happened to you because of drinking with me, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself…”
Evelyn was speechless.
The corners of Huston’s mouth twitched. “If you continue to speak like this, I won’t forgive you.”
Marcellus blinked and walked to the bedside, looking at Huston lying on the bed. He felt deeply guilty in his heart. “I’ll fire the manager when I get back. He has no insight at all and
didn’t stop you. He always shows me things I shouldn’t see every day…”
“Don’t do that. It has nothing to do with him.” Huston had always been a man of integrity. Furthermore, the manager tried to stop him but failed. As an employee, he had no right to force him to do anything.
Marcellus lowered his head and didn’t say anything. After a
few seconds of silence, he raised his hand and scratched his
head, looking very annoyed.
Huston glanced at him and saw that he was in a bad mood, so he changed the topic. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to see you! How could I stay at the company when you were hospitalized because of me?” Marcellus regretted it as soon as he thought about it. That night, he was completely intoxicated and not in control of himself. He would never have let Huston drink to this extent if he had been more sober.
Evelyn poured him a glass of water and comforted him. “Don’t worry. He has had stomach problems for a long time and needs to recuperate. Nothing else is wrong with him.”
“I just asked Kevin. He kept it from me, and it made me so angry. Luckily, he said there’s no major issue, and you’ll be discharged in…” Marcellus was about to say that Huston would be discharged in two days, but he felt a chill running down his spine before the words could leave his mouth. He turned his head and saw Huston staring at him coldly.
He quickly shut his mouth. Just as he was wondering what he had said had offended Huston, he saw Evelyn walking over
from the corner of his eye. He immediately understood that
Huston was teasing Evelyn with his tricks.
Seeing Evelyn cutting fruits for Huston and serving him tea,
Marcellus realized that Huston probably didn’t want to be discharged in a hurry.
