Chapter 334 Why Did You Do That?
After obtaining Mia’s assurance, Maura raised her hand and adjusted the heavy coat on her body. The clothes had been. stored for who knows how long and emitted a musty smell. She gritted her teeth and said, “Fine, I’ll trust you one more time. Anyway, we’re like two grasshoppers tied together now. Let me clarify from the start: if there ever comes a day when you make me unhappy, I won’t let you off easy either!”
Hearing this, Mia showed a trace of cruelty in her eyes but said, “Don’t worry, I won’t shoot myself in the foot. Wait for my news.”
After hanging up the phone, Mia turned off the phone directly. She turned around and wanted to put it in the drawer to lock it, but she saw Brad standing still at the door.
Her heart skipped a beat. She patted her chest and blamed him in shock, “Why are you standing there?”
Brad looked at her with a complicated expression and just watched quietly without saying anything.
Mia furrowed her brows inwardly and mustered her strength. to put the phone back in its original place and lock it. She approached him and asked, “Did you hear everything just
now?”
Brad slightly changed his expression. “Why did you do that?”
She liked Huston so much that almost everyone around her could tell. But since she liked him, why did she do such a thing?
Mia caught a fleeting glimpse of disgust in his eyes, even though it disappeared in an instant. But she had noticed it. She squeezed out a few tears and spoke pitifully, “I didn’t want to do it. I was forced and had no other choice…”
“Why would you do such a thing? Hurt someone that the person you like likes, just because you can’t have him. You won’t let anyone else have him either?” Brad still couldn’t
understand it. After all, what Mia and Maura did was indeed
excessive.
Unexpectedly, before Mia could say a word, tears fell from her
eyes and covered her face instantly.
“I didn’t want to destroy him. I just didn’t want him to lose
everything for a woman,” Mia explained her reasons without guilt. Instead, she spoke confidently, as if she was the true victim. “I thought you understood me, but I never expected to
be so despised in your eyes…”
She cried sadly. “Is everything blamed on me? Is it all my
fault?”
Brad also felt bad when he saw her like this. She was not wrong. The fault was that she fell in love with someone she shouldn’t love, and this person didn’t love her.
“Brad, do you now despise and look down on me because I conspired with Maura to deceive Evelyn?” Mia, seemingly intoxicated, couldn’t hold back anymore. Since she had already started, she might as well say it all.
