Chapter 339 A Surprise Confession
“You always talk about wanting to escape from this
relationship, feeling a lack of security, and not knowing how
far it can go. And I, in matters of the heart, am someone who is accustomed to self–protection. In our time together, I may have failed to provide you with the security and everything you desired. We haven’t been together for just six months, but these six months have been a breakthrough for me,
going from zero to a hundred. We have experienced a lot and solidified our beliefs. Evelyn, I love you. This ring is for you. Once you put it on, you can’t take it off.” Huston’s deep voice carried a hint of urgency, and his eyes reflected her bewildered yet touched expression.
Evelyn looked at the man standing in front of her. His
movements were so elegant, and his eyes were so focused on
her, as if she was the only one in the world in his eyes, which
made her feel that she was cherished.
She didn’t know when she had such a feeling last time. She had been too tired all these years, both mentally and physically. She had no expectations for such romantic
treatment, but she didn’t expect that he would do it.
Her tears fell in a pitter–patter, tracing her cheeks and leaving wet streaks behind. If it weren’t for him reaching up to wipe
them away, Evelyn wouldn’t have realized that she had
started crying.
How long had she waited for such a scene?
Evelyn had always hoped that someone would do this for her,
and she almost thought she would never have one again.
Looking at her tearful face affectionately, Huston thought,
“She looks so beautiful even when she’s crying.”
He lowered his head and took the ring out of the box. When
he was about to put the ring on Evelyn’s left hand, he stopped and looked up at her. “Do you want me to put it on for you?”
Evelyn nodded without hesitation, and her voice trembled slightly because of her excitement. “I do!”
Huston smiled as he slid the ring onto her finger, fitting perfectly. As Evelyn looked at the additional ring on her finger, a unique emotion surged within her, making her feel like they
would always be together.
Huston pulled her into his arms, kissing gently on her head.
“Now I can rest assured. You won’t be able to run away from
me anymore.”
Evelyn smiled, and her tears fell on his expensive clothes. Her heart was full of sweetness. “When did you prepare these…”
