Chapter 349 Please Don’t Be Angry
Brad tactfully refused. “Thank you, Ms. Shelton. I’m not hungry yet.”
Hearing what he said, Evelyn didn’t force him.
After washing the vegetables, Evelyn started cooking the noodles, handling the process with exceptional skill. She peeled the shrimp before putting them into the pot, ensuring convenience during the meal.
After she was done, she filled the bowl with noodles and
called Huston. “Come to the dining room for dinner. It’s getting late.”
Ten minutes later, Huston and Kevin entered the restaurant
together. Kevin was slightly stunned when he saw the four
bowls of noodles on the table. Without saying a word, he sat down and began to eat.
After a busy afternoon of checking and reading the report, they were hungry.
When Evelyn saw only two of them, she was a little surprised.
“Where’s Mabel?”
Kevin paused for a moment before replying indifferently, “She’s gone.”
“She left? When did she leave? I didn’t notice.” Evelyn had
been watching the surveillance video in the office but didn’t know anything about it. But now that she thought about it, she hadn’t seen her for a long time.
“There’s an urgent matter at the hospital that needs to be dealt with, so I let her go back. Several doctors will come over in the evening, so there’s no need to worry.” Of course, Kevin wouldn’t mention that he had driven Mabel away. Everyone was already exhausted at this critical moment, and there was
no need to worry about anything else.
Evelyn didn’t suspect anything and didn’t continue to ask.
After finishing their meal, Kevin went to the sterile room to
check Mia’s condition. In the dining room, only Huston and
Evelyn remained. Evelyn was about to clear the bowls in front
of him when he abruptly grabbed her wrist. “Don’t clean up.
Someone will come to do it later.”
“It’s fine. I can do it. Anyway, I can’t help you with anything
else..”
As she spoke, she tried to take it again but was restrained by
Huston with greater strength. She frowned slightly and looked at the man sitting in the chair in confusion.
Huston raised his wrist and looked at the time on his watch.
His tone was slightly heavy as he said, “Go back first. I’ll get the driver to pick you up.”
“I’ll stay with you.”
“Evelyn.”
“I said I’ll go with you,” she repeated, her tone slightly trembling and unsteady. A sour and bitter sensation rose in her nose. She quickly turned her face away, not wanting him to worry about her anymore.
Closing his eyes, Huston swallowed hard, feeling a suppressed emotion. He gently held her hand and said, “It’s not that I don’t want you here. I’m just afraid you’ll be too tired. With me and Kevin here, it’s enough. Can you go home and wait for
me?”
She wanted to say something else, but he interrupted her. “I
know you won’t cause any trouble, but you will distract me. Go
