Chapter 379 Buying Goods
The two of them went to a nearby commercial market and
sold all kinds of things. There was also half a month to go
before Christmas.
Lucy and Ben had been living here for a long time and were
very familiar with the merchants here. As soon as they walked
into an old businessman, they heard the man praising, “Oh, I
haven’t seen you for a long time. Is this your daughter? She’s
still so beautiful!”
Evelyn was embarrassed by the praise. She quickly waved her
hand and walked to the side to choose.
Lucy chatted with her old friends. Evelyn took a fancy to a pendant and put it in Royal Villa. It should be good.
Evelyn picked out a few more paintings and hung them on the wall. They must be good-looking.
In this way, when she had almost bought a whole bag, she took it over and asked the boss, “Excuse me, how much is it in
total?”
The lady was chatting happily with Lucy. She glanced at the pile of things in Evelyn’s hand and smiled happily. “Why did
you buy so many things? Can we put them all at home?”
Evelyn explained with some embarrassment, “In addition to my family, there’s also a gift from my friend’s family. I bought it
for him.”
Friend? Or a friend who bought gifts?
As an experienced woman, she instantly understood what was going on. The smile on her face widened as she looked at
Lucy. “I knew it. Your daughter is beautiful. Which young man
is so lucky to marry your daughter?”
This lady was very good at talking and didn’t make people fawn at her. In fact, everyone knew about the divorce of Evelyn. Many people gossiped behind her back and said that no one would want her in the future. Although Lucy didn’t
show it, she was very angry.
When she heard this, although Lucy was modest, her face was already full of joy. “Don’t say it!”
“No, I’m just telling the truth…”
After chatting for a while, when they finally paid the bill and left, Lucy immediately took Evelyn’s hand and asked, “Did you buy these things for that man?”
Evelyn knew that she couldn’t escape, so Evelyn nodded
perfunctorily and said, “Yes, it’s not, by the way!”
“By the way?” Lucy glared at her. “Do you think your mother is
a fool?”
“You’re not stupid. You’re the smartest person in the world. No one is smarter than you. So, Mrs. Jones, can you let me go
now?”
“You!” Lucy smacked her on the arm. “Why won’t I let you go?
Shouldn’t you tell your family about this?”
“Mom.” Evelyn bent down, rubbed her head against her shoulder, and explained coquettishly, “I’ll let you see him when
I have a chance in the future, okay?”
“Are you serious?”
“How could I lie to you?”
“Okay.” Lucy was slightly relieved this time. “You had a big fight with Jerry before, and now you have something to do with Huston. Your father and I are afraid that you will suffer losses, but you’d better make your own decision. If you’re willing, it’s not too late to share it with me.”
