Chapter 383 No Matter How Long It Takes, I’ll Wait For You
From her urging him to drive quickly to hide the ring, his thoughts were very obvious.
“I’m not afraid.” Evelyn tightened her grip on the lunch box. “I’m just a little cautious.”
The last failed marriage seemed to have no effect on Evelyn, but in fact, some of her actions would indeed change. She would not be as anxious to see him see his parents as before.
Instead, she would be more careful. But this caution did not
conflict with her love for him.
“What are you afraid of? How do I make you feel unreliable? Or do you always want to leave me one day?” Huston laughed at herself. “Or do you think your parents are not satisfied with
me?”
His aggressive attitude made Evelyn a little breathless. She
lowered her head slightly and said, “It’s not like that. I’m just
not mentally prepared yet. It’s my fault. It’s not yours.”
“Evelyn.” It was rare for him to call her name in such a serious
tone unless he had something very serious to discuss with her.
Her heart tightened, and she looked into his deep eyes in panic.
The man’s sexy Adam’s apple bobbed up and down, and there was a hint of depression between his eyebrows. “What are you hesitating about?”
“I didn’t hesitate.” Evelyn tried her best to explain and didn’t want him to misunderstand. “I just need some time to adjust myself. I had an unpleasant marriage. Even if it’s nominal, it will still have a deep impact on me. I know it’s unfair to you, but I can’t control these negative emotions.”
Evelyn also wanted to tell her family about Huston’s existence without hesitation, but it was so difficult to say it out loud.
That kind of fear was not temporary, nor was it because of a certain someone. It was quietly lingering around the beach and stopping her from doing so.
At this point, Evelyn had already cut her wound open for him
to see. This kind of embarrassing feeling made her feel deeply
inferior.
“I don’t know how to explain it to you. I’m not afraid. I just need some time.” Huston gave her some space to face her
feelings.
Huston even more than she loved Jerry. The more she loved him, the more difficult it would be for her to take this
step.
The lunch box in her hand was still warm, and Evelyn couldn’t
help clenching her fists tighter as if she could get a little warmth and comfort in this way.
The man pursed his thin lips and looked sideways at her disappointed face. She was still holding the vegetables and decorations she had brought for him. In fact, she was working hard little by little.
Under her trembling eyelashes was the scar that she could not forget easily.
