Finding Love in the Boss’s Embrace After Divorce novel Chapter 422

Chapter 422 She Had Never

Known This Man

Evelyn suddenly understood why Mia had retreated into the

courtyard and why she had been “forced” to the side of the

swimming pool by her. Even at that critical moment, Mia had

still found a way out for her.

It was terrifying.

All of a sudden, Evelyn felt a chill run down her spine and staggered to her feet. Before she could see what was going

on, Huston had already rescued Mia from the water.

Mia was in a bad state. Her body was twitching slightly, and she kept spitting water. Even her eyes rolled back, and she still

muttered in horror, “Huston, save me, save me…”

Save her?

Evelyn felt as if her feet had been nailed to the ground. She jumped into the water herself. How could she have the face to

let someone else rescue her?

Evelyn wanted to explain, to tell Huston that Mia intentionally fell into the pool, that she didn’t use much force and didn’t

intend to harm her. However, just before she could speak, she heard the man standing in front of her, his tone gentle, saying, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here. I’ll take you to the hospital now.”

All of Evelyn’s words seemed to be trapped in her throat. She stared blankly as he gently embraced Mia, realizing how

much he cared for and cherished her.

Huston looked at her coldly as if he wanted to freeze her to death. He stared at her with such a gloomy gaze. He asked her, “Are you satisfied?”

Evelyn felt like her body temperature was instantly drained

away. Even though she wasn’t the one who fell into the water,

she felt colder than anyone else. It was so cold that her blood

seemed on the verge of freezing, leaving her limbs numb and

unable to move.

She wanted to laugh and reply, “You don’t believe me,” but he didn’t even want to waste time waiting for her to speak. He

was so anxious that he held Mia in his arms and left without looking back.

Evelyn stood rooted to the spot. She did not know if he had

seen Ben lying on the ground when he entered. She did not

even dare to think about it. All she could see was him frowning

and looking at her disappointedly. His gentle, comforting

words to another woman echoed in her ears, “Don’t be afraid.

I’m here.”

He picked up the woman who hurt her the most and left. He turned a deaf ear to her and abandoned her like Jerry…

Evelyn laughed sadly. Perhaps, she had never known this man.

Evelyn didn’t know how she got to the hospital from the villa. She followed the ambulance like a walking corpse. She watched Ben enter the operating room, then be pushed out, and finally was arranged to stay in the VIP ward.

Dramatically, Mia’s ward was right below them, yet Huston

never came to see them during those three hours.

He didn’t care, did he?

This incident revealed all his true thoughts.

Between Mia and her, Huston chose Mia without hesitation.

Even if that woman angered her dad so much that he had

a heart attack, Huston would only blame her with “Are you

satisfied?”

Looking at Ben lying on the bed with his eyes closed, Evelyn

felt very upset. She felt that her efforts during this time were ridiculous and pathetic. Seeing that her eyes were red, Lucy couldn’t bring herself to say any more reproachful words. She came over and patted Evelyn on the shoulder. “Go and have a

rest. I’ll stay here with your father.”

After staring for a while, Evelyn raised her hand to wipe her tears. Without saying anything, she got up and left the ward.

She walked to the window at the end of the corridor. The

cold wind from outside blew in as if cutting through all her pretenses and facades. Tears streamed down her face

incessantly.

Just a few hours ago, she was happily talking to Ben

about visiting Huston’s house, filled with anticipation to introduce her beloved man to her parents. In the blink of an eye, everything had changed. This earth-shattering transformation made her feel like everything that had

happened before was just an illusion.

Huston didn’t trust her at all.
