Chapter 446 He Still Likes Her
Huston was 1.88 meters tall and had a strong aura. Even someone who had lived for half a lifetime like Ben couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed in front of him. Ben didn’t know how Evelyn got along with such a man.
When the door was pushed open, Huston saw a nervous face.
Evelyn was about to enter when she saw him come out, but Huston grabbed her wrist first. She thought he was about to say something unpleasant and had prepared a counter-argument, but it was unnecessary. “You can stay at home for a week. Wait until your father’s health improves before returning to the Royal Villa.”
Evelyn was taken aback momentarily, almost thinking she had misheard. She didn’t expect him to have such a good attitude. However, she quickly regained her composure, forcefully pulling her hand back. She lowered her head and walked past him, leaving only three cold words behind, “All right.”
After watching Evelyn busily complete the discharge
procedures and leave, Huston returned to the hospital room.
downstairs.
When he pushed open the door and entered, Mia was already
awake, sitting at the bedside and staring blankly out the window. Upon hearing the sound behind her, she turned
around, pulling her knees up and hugging her own body. She softly asked, “Has Evelyn’s father been discharged from the hospital?”
“Yes.” Huston closed the door without much expression.
In his current state, walking into this ward had already mentally and physically exhausted him.
“Huston, I know you’re blaming me in your heart. I admit that
I was at fault in this matter. I didn’t intend to start a conflict back then, but I don’t know how it happened…” Mia paused at that point, her eyes becoming slightly red. It seemed as if she was overwhelmed with regret and didn’t know how to continue.
He looked at her reddened eyes. She used to love him so much and cherished him as if he were her own sister, but now he felt a little numb. Had she changed, or had he changed? Maybe it was both.
Huston walked to the bedside and looked at Mia’s face. “You
should cooperate well with the treatment and not worry about anything else. Once you recover, you can go wherever you
want.”
Mia was stunned, but then she pretended to be confused and
smiled. “I’m not going anywhere. I just want to stay by your side.”
She looked over with tears in her eyes, looking as fragile as a flower swaying in the wind and rain. “You know it…”
However, this seemingly harmless flower created a huge rift between him and Evelyn.
Huston didn’t avoid her gaze but rather stared at her as if scrutinizing her. “The consequence of being by my side is what you’re experiencing right now. So, for your good, I must let you go.”
“I don’t care!” Mia quickly shook her head. “As long as I can stay by your side, I don’t care about anything.”
“Mia.” Huston suddenly called out her name. His voice was low and cold, and for the first time, his eyes were filled with coldness. “What you’ve done has crossed my bottom line,” Huston said.
