Chapter 470 A Deadly Lie
Hearing this, Evelyn didn’t take it seriously. She just snorted
and said, “Thank you, Miss Klein. There’s no need for that.”
“I know you’re hostile to me,” Mia spoke before she could hang
up the phone. “I’m not trying to make trouble for you this time.
This is a hospital, and I can’t make trouble for you. There’s just one thing I think you should know.”
“Okay.” Evelyn nodded. “Let’s talk on the phone.”
“No, you must see it with your own eyes.”
The sneer on her face froze, and Evelyn had a bad feeling.
“What do you mean?”
Sensing her mood swings, Mia kept her guessing. “Don’t you want to know why such a thing happened to your father? And
why I couldn’t transfer him to another hospital?”
Evelyn lowered her voice. “If Miss Klein doesn’t want to say
anything to arouse my curiosity, then I’ll hang up.”
“It’s about my family, but you have to see it with your own.
eyes.”
There was a moment of silence on both sides of the phone. Evelyn took the phone away a little, turned her face away, and let out a sigh of relief. She knew that she shouldn’t trust Mia easily, but she had to admit that since the incident, they hadn’t communicated normally. There were some things that couldn’t be solved by running away.
Late at night, in the hospital, there were two women and countless guards. Mia was right. There would indeed be no
trouble.
Just as Evelyn was deep in thought, Mia said something that made her have no choice but to go. “In this hospital, there is another existence that Huston cares about very much. Don’t
you want to see her?”
Forty minutes later, the taxi stopped at the gate of the Lane’s Hospital. The driver glanced at the magnificent gate of the hospital and looked at Evelyn in the rearview mirror. “Miss, is
someone ill at home?”
“No, I’m here for something else.”
The driver felt a little strange, but he didn’t ask any more questions. He thought to himself, “What else can I do if I don’t come to the hospital?”
After getting out of the car, a gust of cold wind blew. Evelyn wrapped herself tightly in her coat and was walking quickly
inside when she suddenly received a call from Huston.
Evelyn looked at the name for a long time before picking it up. “Hello?”
“Why did it take you so long to answer the phone? Where is it?” The man’s voice on the other end of the phone was a little urgent. He had been very sensitive in recent days, especially when she was not in sight.
Evelyn glanced at the elevator and didn’t want him to worry. “I’m downstairs. I’m going upstairs.”
“Yes,” he replied indifferently and said, “I’ll hang up when you
come in.”
Her heart tightened. Afraid that he would discover something, Evelyn said regretfully, “My phone is running out of battery. I’ll send you a message when I get there.”
Huston was still at the office. Just as she was about to say something, Sam suddenly walked over and said, “President Lloyd, the video conference is ready.”
Hearing this, Evelyn heaved a sigh of relief. “Go ahead with your work. We’ll talk about it after you’re done.”
Huston glanced at Sam and had no choice but to give up. “Tell me when you get home.”
