Chapter 498 Jerry’s Visit
Mia looked at him obsessively. “Huston, I love you.”
The gentleness in the woman’s eyes was replaced by disgust. If she could not marry the person she loved the most, then she would marry the person she hated the most. It was just an engagement, and he would never touch her.
Huston pushed her away as if a basin of cold water had been poured over his head. “I don’t love you.”
Everything he did was for Evelyn. That was all.
Huston gave Mia two days to think. In the past two days, Mia had not been idle. She was very active in treatment. Occasionally, she would sit in front of the window in a daze, but most of the time, she would smile. Even George did not understand.
Didn’t she just have a relative who passed away? Why didn’t she feel too sad?
However, this was someone else’s private matter, so George didn’t ask about it in detail. He just reported her physical condition to Kevin and Huston every day.
Evelyn had been detained at the police station instead of going to the detention center. There were all kinds of people in the detention center. If she went there, she would only be bullied for nothing. No one dared to say anything because of Huston’s pressure.
Anyway, there wasn’t a sentence in the court, and everything was said. It was just that there was a lot of pressure caused by public opinion in the outside world, so they had always paid great attention to this matter.
Ever since Huston came to visit last time, Evelyn felt much more at ease. Although she did not know what was going on outside, her heart was still calm. She believed that Huston would definitely keep her word and take her home.
To her surprise, Jerry suddenly came to visit her. The police informed her in advance if she was willing to see him. After thinking for a while, Evelyn shook her head and refused.
Soon, the police officer came back and said that Jerry had something very important to tell her. Evelyn hesitated for a while and finally agreed.
“Miss Shelton, don’t worry. No one in the police station dares. to do anything to you.” The police officer saw her depressed face and comforted her.
The corners of Evelyn’s lips curled up, but she didn’t say
anything else. “Thank you. I’m very relieved.”
When she arrived at the visiting room, Jerry was already sitting inside. There was a thick and transparent glass between them, which was bulletproof.
Looking at her sad face, Jerry unconsciously tightened his grip on the table. Before coming here, he had imagined what would happen after they met, but when he saw it, he felt a different feeling in his heart.
Jerry actually wanted to gloat over her misfortune when she accused him that his family had declined but at this time.
Jerry took back his gaze and glanced at his feet. He slightly narrowed his eyes to hide his imperceptible pity. “I heard about what happened to you.”
Evelyn was not surprised at all. “Now the whole Jewel City knows about it. You’re not here to catch up with me, are you?”
“Ha.” Jerry chuckled, but there was no smile in his smile. “You’re still the same. You haven’t changed at all.”
Evelyn pursed her lips slightly and then let go. “I’m sorry. I didn’t let you see me in such a sorry state.”
“I didn’t come here to quarrel with you.” Jerry took a deep breath. “I read about you on the news. I know you won’t kill
