Chapter 510 You Can Laugh at Me as Much as You Want Now
Unwilling to give up?
Bert curled his lips and was not worried at all. “When the lawsuit results come out, you will give up. I’ll wait for you.”
It was just a matter of time. Women were probably so emotional and troublesome. Even when the facts were right before them, they still wait for them to happen before believing.
However, he didn’t mind waiting with her for a while.
“No, I just want to fight for myself. I don’t want to wait for death.” Evelyn didn’t want to admit defeat, nor did she want to sacrifice her life for someone like Mia, so she wanted to try it at
the last moment.
“If only you had said those words when I first went to the police station to see you,” Bert recalled the situation from a few days ago that felt like a long time ago. “Unfortunately, you didn’t trust me back then.”
Evelyn smiled in a trance. “Now, you can laugh at me as much as
you want.”
Mocking her for her perceived unwavering determination in a relationship that was just a one-sided play.
“I don’t have that intent.” Bert didn’t care about this at all. What he cared about was whether he could take this special woman away or not. “I’ll wait for you to contact me.”
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn couldn’t calm down. She wouldn’t contact Bert unless she had no choice. He was not a man to be trifled with.

But now, if even he couldn’t be of any help, Evelyn truly had no other choice but to wait.
At the thought of the final result of the lawsuit, she suddenly felt uncomfortable in her stomach, probably because she was too nervous or because of the emotional breakdown. Her stomach tightened, and her throat was dry and sour. She suddenly felt sick and bent down to retch.
The police officer, who had not gone far with the phone, heard the sound and immediately rushed over. When he saw her squatting on the ground, he asked nervously, “Ms. Shelton, are you all right?”
From the first day she entered the police station, she was treated as a “distinguished guest” here. Even as a suspect, she would never be subjected to any neglect.
Just as Evelyn was about to say that she was fine, she opened her mouth and immediately felt extremely uncomfortable. She retched several times in a row, but nothing came out.
She took a sip of water from the table and finally felt better. “I’m
fine. I guess I’m too nervous.”
She didn’t get any rest last night and had a meeting with Huston today. Her emotions were fluctuating greatly, and coupled with her bad mood, she cried a lot. She likely appeared this way because she was exhausted.
Hearing her words, the police officer was still worried. “Do you want the doctor to come over and take a look at you?”
“No need.” Afraid that he wouldn’t believe her, Evelyn casually lied, “I occasionally have moments like this.”
Seeing her response, the police officer no longer insisted, “All right, if you feel unwell, just let me know.”
