"That's good, that's good." After Kevin repeated his words twice, the heavy burden on his heart was finally lifted. He feared that if Evelyn had not had a good time these past few years, how guilty would Huston feel? Huston probably wouldn't hesitate if Evelyn killed him with a knife.
Fortunately, everything was beyond his expectations.
"What are you going to do next?" After five years of reunion, Kevin subconsciously thought they would be together again.
Unexpectedly, Huston sank on the other end of the line for half a minute before saying, "I don't know."
For some reason, Kevin felt as if he had been choked. He asked in shock, "What?"
"She seems to be very resistant to me." Huston had seen Evelyn's performance tonight. It was not because she wanted to sit down with him and talk nicely but because she was panicking as if facing a formidable enemy.
This made Kevin frown. Kevin stood up from the sofa and paced uneasily in the room. Logically speaking, they used to have such a good relationship, but they had no choice but to separate because of some forced matters. Now that they had met again. When Kevin thought of this, his thoughts suddenly paused, and an idea flashed through his mind. Yes, this reunion was worthy of gratitude to Huston, but what about Evelyn? If Evelyn had been alive for five years, why hadn't she come to him?
Perhaps Evelyn had no intention of coming back.
When Kevin thought of this, his heart was once again on tenterhooks. Five years wasn't long, but it wasn't a short time either. It was sufficient to change a person's feelings. The worst-case scenario would be that Evelyn would have someone else.
This thought startled Kevin. Kevin instinctively rejected it and refused to believe it. Kevin also feared Huston would think too much about it and aggravate their conflict. He comforted her softly, "Don't worry. We've just met, and there are many things we can't make clear. Give her some time; give yourself some time."
