Chapter 654 Indebted for Eternity
“What’s your plan for coming back this time? You’ve been alone in Lownon all these years. Have you gotten used to it?” There were countless questions in Grace’s mind, all jumbled up, and she didn’t know which one to ask first.
Evelyn patiently explained, “I saved the life of a Chinese descendant by accident before. It was this man who helped me when I left. When I was in Eoland, he took good care of me and my child. I lived a good life and had my own law firm. I didn’t have to worry about basic needs, but I was mentally
exhausted.”
“Chinese descendant?” Grace frowned as she tried to recall.
Evelyn pointed out, “Do you remember the man we met when
we went on a vacation? It was him, Bert.”
It was a long time ago. After thinking for a while, Grace remembered a vague figure. “Ah, I remember. It’s that
person!”
“Yes.”
“What is your relationship with him now?”
Evelyn knew that she must have thought too much, so she
shook her head and said, “We’re closer than friends. It’s more
like a kind of family bond.”
Hearing this, Grace clearly didn’t believe it, “Don’t fool me. How can a man take care of you for five years without any reason? He must have feelings for you.”
Evelyn was caught off guard by her words, and she had to
admit that Grace truly understood her.
Seeing her silence, Grace realized that she had hit the mark, and couldn’t help but think of Huston, that domineering and
strong-willed man. “So, what do you think now? Are you going
to make things clear to Huston, or are you going to separate
from Bert?”
“I owe Bert too much in this life, and I’ll never be able to repay him, let alone talk about separating. I will do my best to compensate for his efforts with the utmost ability. As for my emotions, I am truly exhausted now.””
Grace also knew that emotions were beyond her control. “Alright, when it comes to matters of the heart, you have to make your own decisions. If there’s anything you can’t handle or if you want to escape, come find me. My door is always open for you, as long as you need.”
“Croco thank
you.”
Tears welled up in Grace’s eyes. “If you truly want to thank me, then don’t leave again.”
The next morning, Evelyn and Grace woke up and took Lucas to a nearby mall to buy the daily necessities they needed. Most of them were clothes for the child and household items.
After they finished shopping, it was just lunchtime. There was an authentic Chinese restaurant next to them. The cooking method is with a Southern influence, which was also very suitable for children to eat. The only inconvenience was that there were no empty private rooms.
However, there were not many people who came for lunch at
noon on weekdays. They chose a seat by the window, which
was not too noisy.
