Lucy sat on the sofa, holding onto Evelyn’s hand. Her once broad and sturdy palm was now unusually cracked. Evelyn felt a deep pain in her heart, and tears that had just stopped started welling up again. “Mom, have you been doing okay all these years?”

Evelyn pondered for a moment and honestly expressed her thoughts. “Perhaps I will leave again, but Mom, Dad, rest assured, even if I leave this time, I will take you with me.” 

“Your mother and I are getting old. We can’t handle much upheaval. We’re just grateful that you’re still alive. If you want to go back to Eoland, your mother and I won’t stop you. As long as you live a good life, we’ll be content.” Ben’s every word carried the weight of mountains, exuding a sense of unwavering strength.
