Chapter 68 The Letter of Reflection
That night, Evelyn almost didn’t sleep well. When she returned to the villa and lay on the bed, her cars echoed with the words that Huston had told her.
She covered her head with the blanket, and her mind was in a mess. The only thing she could be sure of was that she was getting more and more often thinking of this man named Huston.
The next morning, Evelyn got up before six o’clock. After packing up her things, she left before Jerry and Maura got up.
It was only eight o’clock when she arrived at the law firm, and there was still half an hour before work.
Evelyn printed out the documents she had sorted out last night. After hesitating for a while, she walked to the door of Charlie’s
office.
She turned the doorknob. The door was locked and could not be opened. She looked down and saw a very narrow gap between the floor and the door. She squatted down and slowly stuffed the documents in her hand.
“What are you doing?”
A clear male voice suddenly came from behind.
She was so shocked that her knees went weak and she almost knelt on the ground.
behind her back and said, “Nothing,
the ground. I, I picked it up.”
Charlie obviously wouldn’t believe her clumsy lie. He reached out to her and said, “Give it to me.”
She played dumb. “What?”
“The thing in your hand.” Seeing that she was about to say something, Charlie frowned. “Don’t let me say it a third time.”
“…” She took a deep breath and handed him all the documents.
Charlie looked through the pages and finally fixed his eyes on the last page.
After browsing through it for a while, he took out the page with his slender fingers and placed it in front of her. He looked at her blushing face and asked, “What’s this?”
“A letter of reflection…” She replied in a low voice.
The man raised his eyebrows slightly and read it again. Then he read one of the lines out loud, “I should give my supervisor prior notice if I need to take leave. To ensure there won’t be a repeat of the previous inappropriate incident, I solemnly pledge.”
“Yes…” She lowered her head and muttered in her heart, “Is it necessary to read it out? It’s very embarrassing…”
The corners of Charlie’s mouth curled up silently. “Did you come to the company so early in the morning just to deliver the documents and a letter of reflection to me?”
She paused for a moment and shook her head honestly. N got up early today. So, I deliver the documents here.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Charlie, who was standing in front of her, didn’t speak for a long time. Just as she couldn’t help looking up, a light force suddenly fell on her forehead. With a light click, he rolled up the document and knocked on her head. “You’re quite honest.”
