Finding Love in the Boss’s Embrace After Divorce novel Chapter 727

Chapter 727 She Had Been Drugged

Evelyn thought the man would just leave after looking at her, but to her surprise, he remained seated. He exuded the scent of alcohol and stale smoke, which made her feel somewhat disgusted.

Evelyn scooted a bit to the side, feigning indifference, “Sir, do you have something to discuss with me?”

The man’s eyes behind his glasses darted around, “Miss Shelton, right? I saw you earlier at the entrance of the bar.”

“I don’t know you,” Evelyn replied curtly. She had no interest in engaging in small talk with him. Her purpose was to find Huston, and she had no intention of getting acquainted with the people around him.

“Don’t say that, Miss Shelton. It’s just because we don’t know each other that we should get acquainted. Besides, since you don’t have access to President Lloyd now, I happen to know him quite well. Maybe I can bring you in!” Ryan knew exactly what Evelyn was thinking, and his words hit right at her heart.

Hearing his words, Evelyn paused for a moment, but she didn’t let her guard down completely, and she said, “President Lloyd has a rather aloof personality, as everyone knows. How can you bring me in?”

She needed to determine whether this man could truly help her

or if he was just trying to manipulate her.

Ryan burst into laughter, “We have business dealings, which is different from personal relationships. President Lloyd will still satisfy my need in this regard.”

Evelyn remained silent, inwardly sneering. She knew that once this man found out about her relationship with Huston, he wouldn’t dare say such things.

However, she didn’t feel inclined to inform him. Instead, she decided to play along, “I don’t know how to address you.”

“I’m Ryan Brown. You can call me Ryan.” After saying that, Ryan opened his arms and placed one of them on the back of the sofa behind Evelyn. Although he didn’t touch her, his posture suddenly became much closer.

Evelyn felt disgusted deep down, but seeing the tightly closed. door of the private room nearby, she had no choice but to endure.

She didn’t want to come here in vain tonight.

So she obediently called out, “Hello, Ryan.”

Ryan was overjoyed when he heard this, and he began to behave himself. He leaned against Evelyn. After sensing her resistance, he rolled his eyes and said, “Well, I won’t make things difficult for you. We’re all here to have fun. President Lloyd refused you just now, and it’s not good for me to take you in now. I think you’re quite sober. Why don’t you have a drink? Anyway, if

you’ve drunk too much, let’s forget it.”

Upon hearing those words, Evelyn condensed them into two words: “Drink alcohol.”

Although Evelyn’s alcohol tolerance wasn’t particularly good, it wasn’t bad either. She could handle a few bottles of beer or a few shots of liquor. However…

“Do you want to drink now?” Evelyn excused herself, “Ryan, I’m not good at drinking.”

“If you’re not good at it, then forget it,” Ryan replied, restraining the thoughts in his mind, and withdrew his hand, pretending to leave, “But if you go in, won’t it be disappointing?”

Evelyn knew he was pretending, but she couldn’t say anything. She gritted her teeth and stood up, saying, “Ryan, I didn’t say I won’t drink. Just don’t let me drink too much, okay?”

“That’s not a problem. I will cherish and respect a beautiful woman.” Ryan waved to call over a nearby bartender and whispered something in his ear, too soft for Evelyn to hear, presumably asking him to bring the drinks.

Sure enough, after a short while, the bartender arrived with a black tray, carrying five small glasses of foreign liquor. The quantity wasn’t large, but the alcohol content was high.
