Chapter 745 Love Confession
Huston released her hands and instead cupped her face with both hands, making her unable to avoid his gaze and forcing her to look directly at him. He wanted her to see his sincerity. He said, “These five years, I have never forgotten about you. Pressuring you was fake; I was afraid that if you didn’t face me, you would run away again. Fighting for custody was also fake; you are Lucas’s mother, and I am his father. I never wanted to separate. In fact, I had already thought of a way to avoid going to court. I just didn’t know when to bring it up to you.”
His words made Evelyn’s heart beat faster. She almost lost the ability to think, and all her emotions were guided by him.
Huston gazed at her with such focus, taking in every detail of her eyebrows, eyes, and the curve of her lips. Every inch of her face, from her forehead to her chin, was etched into his heart with clarity.
After a moment of silence, he slowly leaned in, his lips stopping just five centimeters away from hers. His voice was husky as he spoke, “Let’s get married and raise our child together.”
Those words exploded in Evelyn’s mind like a bomb, creating a pink mushroom cloud of surprise.
Her eyes remained wide open, and she was too astonished to speak clearly. “What, what did you say?”
Not expecting her to ask again, Huston tilted his head and licked
his slightly dry lips, feeling a hint of nervousness, “I’m confessing my feelings to you.”
Evelyn nodded, still in disbelief, “I heard you.”
What she didn’t understand was why he would suddenly confess his love to her at this time. After all, she had been targeted at the bar yesterday in order to see him.
Why did he suddenly come to this point?
Her confusion was evident in her eyes, and it was difficult for Huston to ignore. Nonetheless, he patiently explained, “You always thought that I wanted Lucas, so I made things difficult for you. But have you ever considered that the reason I love him is because he is your child, not a child with any other woman? The only child I can accept is the one from you and me.”
As Huston said these words, he could feel sweat forming on his back. He had experienced all kinds of major events and considered himself capable of handling anything. However, confessing his feelings was a different matter altogether.
He rarely spoke words of affection, let alone confessing his feelings. Even five years ago, when he first met her, he was inexperienced and unsure if she would accept him. Despite his calm demeanor on the surface, he was already nervous in his heart.
But he had said everything he wanted to say. The woman in front of him just stared at him, her eyes fixed on him without any other reaction. Her gaze made him feel unsettled.
Huston even felt as if his head was about to smoke. He couldn’t
bring himself to look at her with his deep gaze; it seemed to waver. All his pretense and composure were slowly crumbling and freezing in the silent stillness.
He was about to freeze, but the woman in front of him didn’t say anything.
