Chapter 89 As If He Had Lost His Ability to Love
At three o’clock in the morning, the car stopped at the gate
of the villa. After the car was turned off, the driver returned the key. When the driver got out of the car and walked out, he couldn’t help looking back. The luxury car was still parked in the distance, and the man in the car hadn’t gotten out yet.
After finishing the cigarette, a few sparks burned the butt of the cigarette. He threw it away the moment it reached his fingertips. He had drunk a lot but was not wasted. Instead, he had a faint headache.
Looking at the dark mansion in front of him, Kevin’s words
continued to echo in his head.
“If you really like her, go for her.”
“She doesn’t seem to be a two-timer. Could it be that you
misunderstood?”
Of course, he knew that she was not. However, Nora had come
to him today, and her words had turned his efforts into a joke.
He had been working as a lawyer for a long time and had
seen all kinds of people and things. Nora was just a frog in the deep water. In his eyes, there was nothing special about her. She obviously held onto Evelyn’s weakness, not really repenting.
But even though he knew her purpose, he didn’t want to care about it anymore. He would do whatever she asked him to do.
He handed over the surveillance video with ease, but he was not in a good mood. Originally, he was determined not to care about her anymore, but he did not expect that he could not get through himself.
Do I like her?
He didn’t know what it meant to like someone. He was willing to try when he was young. Now, he seemed to have lost the ability to love.
He didn’t know how to define whether he liked her or not. He only knew that no woman could give him the feeling that he wanted to have physical contact with her and overcome the
shackles in his heart.
Thinking of this, Huston’s eyes darkened. After a moment of
silence, he opened the car and walked into the house.
All the lights in the living room were turned off. It was dark. He turned on a few wall lamps, took off his shoes, and walked to
the bedroom on the second floor.
At the door of the bedroom, the man closed his eyes, which were slightly red. He couldn’t hide the exhaustion between his eyebrows. He let out a sigh of relief and reached out to open the door.
The light in the corridor seeped through the gap and fell on the bulge under the quilt in the middle of the bed.
She lay on her side, curled up slightly in a self-protection posture, with her back to the door and half buried in the quilt.
Huston stood at the door, looking disappointed and cold. It was all because of the farce in the office today.
It was Nora who knelt down and begged her, but he felt that he was the one who had really lost.
“Child…”
Suddenly, the little woman on the bed let out a weak moan. Her body under the blanket moved a little, but soon stopped
moving.
The man’s hand, which was holding the door handle, paused slightly. He just wanted to come up and take a look at her, but at this time, he couldn’t help walking in. He closed the door
carefully and turned on the wall lamp, which was far away
from the bed.
