Chapter 890 When Will Daddy Come Back?
Bert didn't take advantage of the situation. After he returned to Jewel City, he didn't see anyone else except for Huston. He also hid it from Evelyn. He just asked someone to keep an eye on her at all times and inform him if anything unexpected happened.
During the day, he worked in his apartment, and at night, he liked to find a place to have a drink alone. There were not many beautiful memories for him in Jewel City. For him, it was a place where Evelyn was.
Huston was not by her side and Evelyn spent most of her time with Lucas. However, the child had already gone to school and spent most of the day at school. When she was free, she would always let her imagination run wild. One or two days was fine, but after a month, she began to become anxious.
She would wake up from nightmares in the middle of the night and lie in bed, unable to fall asleep. The source of all this was the man who had just left.
"Mom, what's wrong?" Lucas noticed that something was wrong when he looked at her pale face during breakfast.
Holding the bread in her hand, she did not care about the meal. When she heard Lucas calling her, she came to her senses and forced a smile. "Mom is thinking about something."
Lucas opened his mouth and took a bite of the bread. After swallowing it all, he rolled his big eyes and looked at Evelyn again. He asked cautiously, "Mom, when will Dad come back?"
It had been half a month since Huston left. Ever since the father and son had reunited, it had not been that long since they left.
His question made her heart skip a beat. Afraid that the child would see through her, she said nervously, "Dad hadn't finished his business yet. He'll be back when the work is done."
"When will the work be done?" Lucas blinked his big eyes expectantly, which made her unable to look at him.
"Dad will be back as soon as possible." She didn't dare to give him a definite time, for fear that he would be disappointed. "Do you miss Dad?"
