Chapter 963 I've Never Wanted to Interfere with Your Work
He said he would only listen to her.
Evelyn was shocked by these words, and even her tipsiness dissipated a little in the cool night wind.
Last night, Huston seemed to ask, but he was thinking about taking the case. Evelyn could see that, so she quarreled with him so emotionally. She didn't expect he would give up because she didn't agree.
She knew it was difficult to change a decision given his commitment to the law and his resolute character. However, now he said he would not take on this case.
Evelyn was truly shocked. She was surprised by his decision. She couldn't see any reluctance in his deep eyes. For her sake, he was willing to do it.
After hearing his words, tears welled up in Evelyn's eyes once again. She reached out and embraced his neck, her tears quickly wetting the side of his collar. "I don't want it to be like this. I know you want to take it, but I'm afraid you'll get into trouble and encounter danger..."
When Huston noticed that she had calmed down, he heaved a sigh of relief and hugged her back. "I know. It's my fault."
As soon as he finished speaking, Evelyn shook her head. "It's not your fault. I'm too selfish. I want you to be mine. I don't want any accidents to happen to you again."
Her words were tantamount to a confession of love. Huston tightened his arms around her as if he wanted to carve her into his bones. "Okay, I won't do that. I'll accompany you and our child."
The night wind blew away the quarrel between the two, but Evelyn didn't feel good. She finally exited the car and was taken home by Huston. It was so late, and their child had already fallen asleep. The house was quiet, and even the footsteps upstairs were obvious.
When Evelyn entered the bedroom, the sensor light fell on her red and swollen eyes. Seeing that she was silent, Huston sat by the bed and pulled her between his legs. He looked at her chin and asked, "Why aren't you happy yet?"
Evelyn didn't say anything. She was indeed unhappy. Even though he had agreed to her request, she was still unhappy.
