Alivia stared at him with widened eyes, raising her hands to protect herself in front of her. Her face turned a mixture of blue and red. She thought Bert had misunderstood or that he already held such a low opinion of her. His words made her feel like she had been slapped across the face, leaving a burning sensation.
She calmed down and said in a serious tone, "You misunderstood, Mr. Harper. I didn't mean that."
Bert looked her up and down and asked sarcastically, "What else can you repay me for except for this body, huh?"
Alivia really wanted to refute it, but at this moment, she couldn't find any words.
"Consider the 400,000 dollars as your payment for accompanying me that night. If you show up in front of me again, don't blame me for being impolite." With those words, Bert didn't even spare her a glance as he walked straight out of the private room.
Alivia did not expect that her behavior today would provoke him. She vaguely felt that it must have something to do with the woman who had just left. He might like that woman, so he expressed his thoughts to help her.
It was hard to imagine that such a ruthless-looking man would have such a soft side.
"Oh, my dear, why are you still standing here!" The manager pushed the door open and interrupted Alivia. He looked at the messy glass on the table and felt a headache. "Did you offend the client?"
Alivia came to her senses and looked around the empty private room. She turned to grab the manager by the arm and asked, "Where is he?"
"He just went downstairs... Hey! Where are you going?"
Before the manager could finish his words, Alivia had already picked up the IOU and rushed out. She ran to the parking lot area on the first floor in one breath and saw the tall figure at a glance. He was walking toward the car, surrounded by two bodyguards.
The parking area was not particularly well-lit, located on the side of the bar's main entrance. Just as Alivia was about to chase after him, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a tiny glimmer shining on the man's white shirt at the collar. It was so subtle that one would not notice it without careful observation.
