Chapter 993 Don't Call Him
When Evelyn woke up again, it was already morning. She had been unconscious throughout the entire night. Opening her eyes, she saw a doctor standing by her side, wearing a white coat. The doctor was adding medication from a small bottle into her intravenous drip.
She was in pain all over her body, with the injury on her shoulder being the most severe, making it impossible for her to move her neck. She furrowed her brow slightly and moved her wrist. "What did you inject me with?" she asked.
Hearing the voice, the doctor looked at her with pity. "You don't have to worry. It's an anti-inflammatory drug, which is helpful for your wound."
Evelyn sized up the man in front of her. He looked kinder than anyone she had ever seen here, but she still didn't dare to take it lightly. Who knew what he was thinking?
"Since you're awake, I'll ask Hawk to come over." He turned around and was about to leave.
Evelyn was shocked. Ignoring the pain and the infusion, she grabbed the man's arm. "Don't go!"
Her voice was still hoarse from just waking up, and she instinctively resisted the mention of that name. "I still want to rest for a while. Don't call him."
The doctor quickly put her hand back by the bed and saw the fear in her eyes. Although he really wanted to agree to her request...
He sighed helplessly. "I'm sorry, but I have to obey orders. The consequences would be dire otherwise."
Evelyn slowly lowered her gaze, her long and curled eyelashes trembling uneasily. In her peripheral vision, she saw the doctor leave the room and close the door. She closed her eyes, and after a few minutes, the door opened again, accompanied by steady footsteps that sounded like a knock from hell.
The sound finally stopped at the head of the bed, and two burning gazes fell on Evelyn's face. She closed her eyes, not wanting to see the face that made her feel disgusted.
