Chapter 171: Returning Home

After lingering for a moment longer beneath the soft glow of the cherry blossoms, Orion finally turned and headed toward the academy’s exit, the tranquil atmosphere now quiet and peaceful as dusk settled over Thunderpeak Royal Academy.

As Orion approached the academy’s main gates, the sight of the familiar obsidian carriage greeted him—its sleek, reflective surface gleaming softly under the gentle glow of the nearby lamps.

Lucan leaned casually against the carriage, a playful grin immediately forming on his face upon noticing Orion. Edgar stood respectfully by the carriage door, patiently awaiting his arrival.

Lucan’s eyes twinkled mischievously as he called out teasingly, “Well, well, if it isn’t the famous hero of the day! Fifty floors, Young Master Orion? Even the older students passing by couldn’t stop gossiping about you.”

Orion chuckled lightly, shaking his head as he approached. “Is that so, Grandpa Lucan? News sure travels fast around here.”

Lucan’s lips twitched hearing his adress, while Edgar inclined his head respectfully, his usually calm face displaying subtle pride. “Indeed, Young Master. It seems your reputation has grown quite dramatically today. Congratulations on such an impressive accomplishment.”

Lucan shook his head and laughed, eyes gleaming with amusement as he added playfully, “Impressive? Sir Edgar, don’t undersell it! Clearing fifty floors on your first attempt? That’s practically legendary, Young Master Orion. The students couldn’t stop whispering about it.”

Orion raised an eyebrow slightly, an amused smile tugging at his lips. “Alright, enough flattery from you two. It was just a productive training session—nothing worth getting so excited over.”

Lucan smirked broadly, clearly unconvinced. “Oh, sure. A ‘productive training session’ that has the entire academy talking. Your humble act isn’t fooling anyone, you know.”

Orion simply rolled his eyes good-naturedly, climbing gracefully into the carriage. Edgar closed the door softly behind him while Lucan hopped into the driver’s seat, taking hold of the reins.

As the carriage began rolling smoothly back toward the mansion, Edgar turned toward Orion, his usually composed gaze openly curious. “If you don’t mind my asking, Young Master, how was the experience within the Tower?”

Orion leaned back comfortably, gazing out of the carriage’s window thoughtfully. “Challenging and insightful, Uncle Edgar. Each floor presented a new opponent, each Echo demanding different skills. By the fiftieth floor, I faced someone genuinely stronger than myself in almost every aspect.”

Edgar nodded his head, clearly knowing about it, “The Echo at the 50th floor is really a bad match for you, Young Master. If you were on a higher level, with strong spells you could have won. But without those, the battle must have been tough.”

Orion nodded slightly, a small, rueful smile forming on his lips. “It was. Physically stronger, more skilled, and experienced beyond my own level. He completely suppressed me. I even lost the fight at the end.”

Lucan softly laughed from the front, “It’s already a feat worth recording in the historical books that you managed to reach the 50th floor on your first attempt Young Master. No need to dwell on that.”

Orion chuckled softly, shaking his head gently. “Grandpa Lucan preaching wisdom? How rare. But don’t worry, I won’t let a mere defeat stop me. It was a humbling experience for sure, but also incredibly motivating.”

Edgar nodded approvingly, the respect and pride he held for Orion steadily growing. “Indeed. To accept defeat so gracefully and use it to drive yourself forward is the mark of true strength, Young Master.” fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Lucan decided to just ignore the form of address and smiled brightly, his voice filled with genuine encouragement. “Yeah! You’ll definitely beat him next time.”

Orion laughed lightly, feeling warmth from their unwavering support. “Thank you both. We’ll see how things go next time.”

The journey back to the mansion passed smoothly, quiet conversation filling the comfortable silence as Orion shared occasional insights from his tower ascent. Soon, they reached the mansion’s front gates, the carriage rolling gently to a stop.

Edgar opened the carriage door for Orion, bowing respectfully as Orion stepped out. “Welcome home, Young Master.”

Orion nodded appreciatively, stretching his muscles briefly after the long carriage ride. “Thank you, Uncle Edgar. Brother Lucan, rest well tonight.”

Lucan chuckled lightly, tipping an imaginary hat playfully. “Same to you, Young Master. Rest well—you’ve earned it!”
