Beck handed his phone to Blake, with Twitter already open. Lydia quickly leaned in, eager to see what kind of drama Flora had stirred up. With the issue brewing online for so long, surely everyone was tearing Flora apart by now, right?
Blake wasn’t sure why Flora wanted her to check the phone, but like Lydia, she assumed the internet was full of criticism aimed at Flora. She couldn't wait to see for herself.
As she took the phone, the screen showed Twitter's trending topics. Blake's eyes immediately caught a few of the top trends:
#MedicalCommunityUnitesAgainstBlake
#WhoIsBlake
#MapleGroveUProfessorBulliesStudent
#TheJoyOfBeingFlora'sFriend
Blake’s mind went blank for a moment. This wasn’t at all what she’d expected. Wasn’t everyone supposed to be attacking Flora? Why were all these trending topics about her instead? And what did it mean that the medical community was uniting against her?
Recalling Flora’s almost mocking gaze, a chill ran through Blake, her anxiety intensifying. Her hand shook, accidentally tapping the screen.
It opened a tweet Flora had posted just half an hour ago. There was a long image and a link. Before Blake could dive into them, she glanced at the comments below:
“Sister Blake, may your family perish. [Smile]”
“How is someone like this even a professor at Maple Grove? Absolutely disgraceful.”
Her heart sank. Why were people speaking to her like this? Surely Flora must have fabricated something to mislead them, right? It had to be Flora spreading lies to ruin her reputation!
