Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1118

In the past, the folks who made it into the medical base were mainly from M country and a bunch of medical organizations. These were places known for their fighting spirit. Everyone there, men and women alike, were tough as nails. Not like the Austenberg crowd, with their slender arms and legs, all fair-skinned and delicate, like little flowers.

Ronald was a bit on edge; for his first class, he hadn't really planned on teaching Luiz and the crew much. His main goal was to check out what they were made of. So, Ronald had them bring in a sniper rifle. “Here’s the K-215 model sniper rifle. Your job is to hit the bullseye on a target twenty meters away. A perfect score is ten rings.”

Pretty basic stuff, really. Back in the day, Ronald would’ve had rookies shooting at moving targets from the get-go. But knowing Austenberg's strict gun laws, where regular folks rarely get to handle a firearm, unlike in M country, where everyone practically grows up with a gun in hand, he cut them some slack.

Even with lowered expectations, Luiz and his buddies still managed to let him down. Ronald had the boys go first, and after ten of them had taken their shots, he wasn’t impressed. The best score was a measly 9.1 rings. Someone even completely missed the target.

The square was packed during class time, and when folks saw this, laughter erupted.

“Haha, can you believe people can be this bad at shooting?”

“Think they’d cry if I punched them?”

“Are these the geniuses Austenberg has to offer? What a bunch of losers!”

“Trash! Trash! Westerners!”

“The Westerners are rubbish!”

The foreign crowd mocked them loudly, even getting into some national-level insults. Luiz and the others turned all shades of red and white, their hands shaking hard as they gripped their rifles. Selene was seething; nobody likes their homeland getting dragged through the mud!
