Flora had really overdone it with her eating today, and now she was nursing a bit of a tummy ache. Connor pulled her close, gently rubbing her belly.
"Feeling any better?" he asked softly.
"Yeah, a bit."
Connor kept massaging her abdomen patiently until she seemed to feel more at ease, and then he subtly moved his hand away. Flora heard some rustling behind her, as if Connor was searching for something in his pocket.
A moment later, her fingers brushed against something cold. Under the moonlight, she realized it was a ring, sparkling brilliantly.
"What are you up to?" Flora raised an eyebrow, slowly pulling her hand back. "I'm not wearing that."
"If you don't take my ring, whose will you?" Connor teased, giving her waist a playful pinch.
Flora huffed, "People usually exchange rings at weddings. You haven't even given me a wedding, and you're trying to lock me down with a ring?"
"Sorry, I just can't wait," Connor admitted, wishing he could whisk Flora away and marry her right then and there.
He got up from the bed and knelt on one knee, holding the ring out to her.
Flora propped her chin and smiled at him.
"Ms. Flora, my princess," he said gently, "Will you be with me? Let me bind us with this ring, take my last name, be my wife, and grow old with me."
