The forest was wrapped in an eerie silence.
After what felt like forever, the quiet was broken by a low chuckle.
A figure stepped out from the dense woods, a teasing grin on his face, dimples flashing briefly. Yet, despite the smile, there was an unsettling chill about him.
Trailing him was a squad of men who looked every bit the part of bodyguards.
Flora's face fell the moment she laid eyes on the young man at the front.
"Big sis, you've got some serious skills with a gun," the young man commented, locking eyes with Flora. His smile was shameless, with not a trace of remorse.
The woman had it coming.
Unlike his sister, he wasn't one to forgive easily. Anyone who messed with her was on a death list in his book.
"Flora, do you know him?" her senior brother asked, hesitantly.
There was no mistaking it—these were the folks who took down their senior sister. But somehow...
They seemed to have a history with Flora?
Flora stayed silent, her gaze drilling into the young man, as cold as ice.
"So, the explosives and the poison gas were your handiwork?" she challenged.
Explosives? Poison gas?
Selene and her crew looked bewildered, completely out of the loop.
The young man didn't bother denying it. The frost in Flora's eyes made his stomach churn uncomfortably.
"Big sis, I won't harm you," he assured. "You've been good to me, and I've always said I'd have your back."
"Young Master—" the men behind him began, clearly uneasy with his words.
Ignoring them, he kept his eyes fixed stubbornly on Flora. "But those folks behind you, they can't walk away."
The senior brothers gripped their guns tighter, their faces grim. The young man's entourage was large and intimidating, all armed to the teeth. They were clearly outmatched.
One of the senior brothers discreetly tried to call for help, but discovered the signal was jammed!
Damn it!
