Flora's eyes slightly lifted at the corners, a flicker of red hinting at her untamed spirit. Her grip on Lillian's wrist tightened slowly but surely. Lillian was in so much pain that cold sweat broke out on her forehead, her cries echoing in the room. She could hardly stand, her legs shaking uncontrollably until she finally collapsed to her knees, trembling all over.
Flora, with one hand still casually in her pocket, smirked, glancing down at Lillian's sorry state. "Now, who's kneeling before whom?"
"Zavier, help me! Please!" Lillian wailed, her voice trembling.
Though Flora laughed, to Lillian it was terrifying. Having rarely stepped out of her sheltered life, Lillian was used to being pampered by her family and was not at all prepared for this kind of confrontation. Before Flora could even escalate things, Lillian was already scared senseless, pleading for help.
"Ms. Flora, let her go! Otherwise, I won’t hold back!" Zavier's face darkened. As the heiress of the Schuler family, being overpowered by someone they deemed ordinary was a slap in the face, especially in their prestigious circles.
"Well, I haven’t exactly seen much courtesy from your side either," Flora replied nonchalantly, her words dripping with sarcasm.
Zavier had nothing to say in response.
They were from the elite circles, and had been flaunting their superiority since they arrived, throwing their weight around with the medical facility's top management.
"I don't care how high and mighty you think you are. On our turf, you'd better play it cool," Flora scanned the room, finally letting go of Lillian, dusting off her hands with disdain.
"Mike, I'm out of here."
With that, she strolled out, not bothered by the looks on everyone's faces. Spotting Connor waiting outside, she grinned and looped her arm through his. "Connor."
"How'd it go?" Connor asked.
"Eh, nothing special," Flora shrugged, filling him in on the hall incident. "All that fuss about ancient martial families, but they're nothing impressive. And those martialists? Overrated."
Connor's eyes flashed with anger hearing about Lillian's audacity to confront Flora, but he quickly masked it. He ruffled Flora's hair with a fond smile, saying, "Yeah, they're nothing. You're the real deal."
"I feel like there's something powerful inside me," Flora mused, touching her chin. "I need to chat with Jules about it."
Could be some kind of inner strength.
Connor listened, quietly pulling out his phone to send a quick message.
