Upon hearing the first part of the sentence, Sydney felt a flutter in her heart. The person behind FUND was said to be the dream of every woman in the Martial World. Sydney hadn't met him, but she'd heard the legendary stories and couldn't help but feel a bit of admiration mixed with longing.
However, her expression shifted to one of annoyance when she heard the rest of what Kenneth had to say. Another woman from the Mortal World? There was already the bothersome Flora, and now another one? How annoying.
“It’s probably just a fling,” Sydney said dismissively. “Someone like him wouldn't actually fall for a woman like that.”
Suddenly, a coughing sound came from outside the door. Sydney quickly said, “I’ve got to go, we’ll chat later,” and hung up the phone. After hanging up, she quickly pretended to be deeply engrossed in her medical textbook.
A few moments later, someone walked in. Sydney hastily set down the book, stood up, and greeted, “Corbyn, Mr. Moore.”
It was the elderly man Flora had rescued at the black market, along with his attendant. The elderly man was Corbyn, the head of the Medical Hall.
“Head Moore, you look pale! Are you alright?” Sydney asked, concerned by Corbyn’s grim expression.
“It’s nothing,” Corbyn replied, shaking his head. “Just an old ailment acting up at the black market today, but it’s nothing serious. In fact, it led me to meet a young lady with remarkable medical skills.”
Mentioning Flora, Corbyn’s eyes brightened a bit. Amos, his attendant, walked over to pour him a glass of water. After taking a sip, Corbyn continued, “Her skills are indeed exceptional. It’s been ages since I’ve seen such a promising talent in the Martial World.”
Hearing this, Sydney’s smile faltered. Corbyn had never praised her like that, but she kept her smile intact. “To earn such praise from you, Head Moore, she must be something special. But in the Martial World, when it comes to medical skills, if Tara is considered second, no one dares claim first. Who could possibly surpass her?”
“Tara is certainly talented,” Corbyn agreed with a smile, thinking of his prized student. But the girl he met today was quite impressive too.
“Head Moore, since Tara isn’t around and you’re not feeling well, how about I give you an acupuncture massage?” Sydney offered, smiling.
