"Sydney, you've got some nerve, messing with the Medical Hall's exam like that!" Corbyn slammed his fist on the table, his anger palpable. Did she think the exam was some kind of child's game? Pulling stunts here of all places.
If Flora hadn't been around by sheer luck, Sydney would have fooled them all, and Corbyn might have even taken her on as an apprentice. That would have turned the Medical Hall into a laughingstock across the Martial World.
"Corbyn, I messed up, I admit it!" Sydney knew she couldn't talk her way out of this one. She covered her face, pleading, "I didn't mean to, I just lost my head for a moment, please, just this once..."
She was genuinely sobbing now, but not out of remorse—she was terrified of the punishment looming over her. Despite her tears, Corbyn and the other senior members remained unmoved, their eyes filled with disdain.
"Sydney, you have talent. Even without resorting to these dirty tricks, you could have come out on top. But you've let us all down," Scott sighed, disappointed. He had high hopes for Sydney, and seeing her take this path was a letdown.
"I'm truly sorry, Master, please forgive me..." Sydney begged.
Corbyn, disgusted, pushed her away. "The Medical Hall has no room for cheats. Sydney, for your dishonesty in the exam, you're expelled from the Medical Hall, never to return! Get her out of here!"
With that, Sydney's journey in medicine hit a dead end. She crumbled, weeping on the floor. Amos, who had been waiting outside, came in to drag her away.
"Hold on," a lazy, cool voice interrupted. Flora rose gracefully to her feet.
