Nash was a bit baffled by Fiona’s decisions, but he kept his thoughts to himself. Just then, Fiona's phone buzzed with a message from Allen.
He had delivered the milk sample to St. Mary's Hospital as planned. Fiona had already given the hospital director a heads-up to fast-track the test results.
Allen: Free tonight? I'd like to treat you to dinner as a thank you.
Fiona: Sounds good, let’s hit the Seville Restaurant. I’ve got a hankering for some crab.
Allen: 7 PM, Room 307.
Fiona: Cool.
After replying, Fiona dived into a quick game on her phone.
Around noon, Jackson swung by to see Fiona, and they ended up grabbing lunch together, with Nash tagging along. Lunch was no-frills—a bowl of crab bisque each. Jackson bought some snacks for Fiona to take home, but Nash tried to snag a bag, only to have Jackson catch him in the act.
“Really, Nash? Still sneaking snacks like a kid?” Jackson teased, eyeing him. “You’re in great shape, what do you need all that for?”
Nash: “???”
Is this really my uncle, or is someone impersonating him?
“Jackson, I’m still growing. I need the fuel.”
“If you touch any of it, you’re doing three extra laps tomorrow morning.”
The threat of extra laps made Nash’s hand freeze mid-reach.
“Jackson!” he whined, hoping to soften him up, but got nowhere.
