After the morning classes wrapped up, Tyler got summoned to Mr. Keaton's office. Meanwhile, Fiona took a deep breath, feeling the need to pamper herself with a nice lunch. But as she rounded the corner, she found herself hemmed in by a group of girls.
"Fiona, you're getting a bit too confident, aren't you?" taunted a blonde girl, jabbing at Fiona's left shoulder. "Even Tyler and Nash stick up for you. You've got some nerve!"
Fiona met their eyes with a casual shrug. "What’s the deal? I’m just off to lunch."
"Lunch? Yeah, right!"
To them, it was the punchline of the day.
"Fiona, who do you think you are? Do you honestly believe you're good enough for my brother?"
Fiona couldn't help but chuckle to herself. These girls kept harping on about their brother, blissfully unaware that he had sought her help just days ago. If they knew, they'd likely give her even more grief.
"Could you move, please?" she sighed, not in the mood for a showdown.
Sometimes silence said it all.
"If you want to go to lunch, you'd better spill!" The girls blocked her way, determined to keep her there.
Nash, who hadn’t gone far, swung back around, puzzled at why Fiona was taking her sweet time. Normally, she was quick to leave.
The moment he stepped into the classroom, he picked up on the buzz. Fiona, tall and striking, stood out in the throng. He zeroed in on her instantly.
In a heartbeat, he was at her side. "What’s going on here? Ganging up on someone like this?"
Nash wasn't someone these girls wanted to cross, but they were reluctant to let Fiona off the hook so easily.
"Nash, what’s Fiona to you? Why are you always defending her?" one girl asked, jealousy seeping through.
"Yeah, why do you keep helping her? She's nothing special."
