Seeing the scene unfold, the young woman dashed back to the old man's side, tears streaming down her face as she kept badmouthing Fiona. But the old man didn’t bat an eye.
Fiona, on the other hand, wasn't too worried about the old man's tricks. She knew these folks were no match for her. Still, she had to keep her wits about her when it came to him.
The dining room of the Reynolds family was decked out in luxury. Once the old man settled in his chair, a few of the main male family members took their seats beside him. Fiona found an empty chair directly across from him at the large round table, which was big enough to seat twelve or thirteen people.
“What makes you think you belong here? Go eat in the corner!” the young woman snapped, trying to drag Fiona away. But to her surprise, Fiona didn’t budge an inch.
Feeling confident with so many people around, she wasn’t worried about Fiona causing her any harm.
“Have you lost your mind?” Fiona shot her a sharp look.
As she turned, she noticed Tyler sitting next to her, grinning.
“So, you did come to find me.”
Fiona sighed, “......”
There was something in Tyler’s smile—a hint of affection—that even Fiona found a bit off.
“Tyler, how can you look at her like that?” The young woman tried to squeeze between Tyler and Fiona, but a stern voice cut her off.
“Haven’t you stirred up enough trouble?” the old man’s deep voice reverberated.
The room fell silent, the kind of quiet where you could hear a pin drop. Everyone’s eyes were glued to Fiona and Tyler, as the old man signaled for the food to be served.
