"Flora, it's fine. Even if you can't go on stage, you're still my top choice for the freshman representative," Cynthia said, trying to comfort Flora, worried she might feel down.
"But seriously, how did the speech get swapped out of nowhere?" Flora didn't say a word, her gaze briefly resting on Jillian, loaded with meaning.
Backstage, the event coordinator was flabbergasted when the counselor suggested replacing Flora with Jillian.
"Are you kidding me?"
They had already announced Flora as the freshman representative, and now over two thousand people were tuned into the livestream, all waiting for Flora. Changing the representative now would be a complete disaster.
"We can't just leave it empty! Jillian is almost as popular as Flora online. Plus, she's got great character and grades. She's been the freshman representative several times and knows the ropes. Letting her go on stage is the only way to avoid a fiasco."
The event coordinator still hesitated; Jillian just couldn't match up to Flora.
Just then, the host's booming voice announced, "Next, please welcome the freshman representative of the class of '17, Flora, to the stage for her speech!"
The counselor turned pale in an instant.
This was bad!
